What Law Roach said about dating.I feel a little seen.
#Personal Ramblings#Law Roach#I don’t date because it seems all so exhausting and maybe the reason I don’t try too hard is because I guess I just don’t really want it#I’ve never been in a relationship and besides my sister no one knows that#but it never bothered me until lately and it comes in waves but I’m a solitary creature by nature and that’s ok!#and the couple of times I let myself be open for a relationship it didn’t work so it explains a lot#also I feel like I’ve been lucky to have grown up with love from friends and family that I never needed to go out and look for more#like what I have is enough

WORD COUNT: 3.3k
WARNINGS: typos, cursing, and playboy lando
Growing up being Max’s younger sister meant that you were always surrounded by his friends, and none of them irritated you more than Lando Norris. From the very beginning, something about Lando rubbed you off the wrong way. Though you had never understood why, there was something—an inexplicable annoyance that only grew stronger with time.
As kids, you tolerated him, well mainly because Max adored him and that they are racing karts together. You can’t just tell Max to stay away from Lando for no apparent reason, that would make look like an absolute ass. But as you all grew up, Lando’s behavior began to infuriate you even more, and it just got worse when he got to F1. He began dating girls and moving on as quickly as the seasons changed, never seeming to care about the trail of broken hearts he left behind. It wasn’t just his carefree attitude towards relationships or life in general; it was the way he would tease you every fucking chance he gets. If you tripped over a pebble or on air, he’d make a joke about it. Making fun of every little thing that he would notice about you. You just couldn’t stand it, and you couldn’t stand him and his whole existence.
But somewhere along the line, something strange started to happen. With all the teasing and eye rolls, you found yourself paying a little too much attention to him. Too much for your liking. It was almost as if you were noticing the first time how his aquamarine eyes sparkled everytime he laughed, or how his curly hair seemed to suit him perfectly. It made you mad—so fucking mad that you wanted to scream. How could you, of all people, start to like Lando Norris? Your public enemy number one.
Then the realization hit you like a shit ton of bricks. You were developing a massive crush on the one person you were supposed to hate. Surprised by the sudden realization, and you being you, instead of acknowledging it, you decided to bury it deep down, covering it with even more layers of loathing. If he said something stupid, which he always does, you’d snap back at him twice as hard. If he smiled that cocky grin, you’d glare daggers at him. But inside, your heart would be pounding, and it drove you crazy. It’s pretty much a fucking miracle that you have been able to stay sane.
One day, after a particularly annoying comment from Lando about your choice of outfit, you finally snapped. “You know, Lando, if I wanted your opinion, I’d ask for it. But I didn’t, so why don’t you just keep your mouth shut for once?” Then you rolled his eyes at him. You’re going out today, you don’t need this kind of negativity. “Besides, don’t you have your own fucking house? Why are you even here?”
Lando grinned, clearly enjoying how riled up you were. “I’m just saying, those shoes look like something a hobo would wear.”
You groaned in frustration. “God, you’re such an asshole, Norris! Do you ever stop to think before you speak?”
“Where’s the fun in that?” He shot back, winking at you.
You felt your cheeks flush, and not from anger. You wanted to punch him, but at the same time, there was this insane urge to grab him by the collar and kiss him just to shut him up. But instead, you turned on your heel and stormed out of the room, muttering under your breath about how he was the most annoying person on the planet.
But then there were those moments when you saw the other side of Lando, the one that made your heart ache in a way you couldn’t even fucking explain. Like the time when he won his first race in Miami. The whole crowd erupted in cheers, everyone was celebrating his win and you found yourself smiling as he won his first race, a huge smile on his face as he celebrated. Your first instinct was to run up to him and give him a hug and tell him how proud you were. But then, almost immediately, you wanted to wrap your hands around his neck for making you feel this way. He had a unique talent for pushing all your buttons, and yet, no one could make you feel the way he did.
After the race, you all went out to celebrate, and as usual, Lando couldn’t resist teasing you. “Come on, admit it, you were impressed, weren’t you?”
You rolled your eyes, but couldn’t stop the small smile from tugging at the corners of your lips. “You were okay, I guess,” you said nonchalantly.
“Okay? Just okay?” Lando feigned hurt, clutching his chest dramatically. “I expected more from my biggest hater.”
“Well, don’t expect me to start fangirling over you now,” you shot back, though your heart wasn’t really in it.
Lando just playfully winked at you, and excused himself, walking away and waving at someone else. You couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to admit it. To finally confess that maybe the reason why you hated Lando so much was because you love him in a way that no one else could. But you quickly dismissed that thought, shaking your head. There was no way you’d ever let him know how much he affected you. Not when he had the power to break your heart with a single word.
As the night went on, you couldn’t help but steal glances at him. He was the center of attention, as always, and yet, for a moment, his eyes caught yours, and he smiled. Not a teasing grin that he would always send your way, but a genuine, warm smile. It made your stomach do flips, and you quickly looked away, mentally cursing yourself for being so weak.
In the middle of the night, you found yourself lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying the day’s events in your mind. You hated how he could get under your skin so easily, how he made you feel things you didn’t want to feel. It was maddening, infuriating, it drives you nuts, and yet…you couldn’t stop thinking about him. How was it possible to love and hate someone so much at the same time? You didn’t know. You don’t have an answer for the lingering questions in your mind and it drove you crazy.
“Why him?” You whispered to yourself that night, lying in bed and staring at the ceiling. “Out of all the fucking people in the world, why does it have to be him?”
You knew Lando could be a major asshole, but somehow, he was your asshole. No one else could make you feel this crazy mix of anger, frustration, and affection all at once, and despite all the annoyance, deep down, you knew you loved him. It made you mad, and yet, in some twisted way, it also made sense. No one else could make your heart race like Lando did, that can make you feel so alive, so frustrated, so utterly confused—and most importantly, no else could break your heart like Lando Norris, and you were beginning to think that maybe, you didn’t want anyone else to.
It has been three months since Lando’s first win, but the tension between the two of you hadn’t eased. In fact, it felt like it was growing stronger, pulling you into a confusing spiral of emotions. It was one of those days that you were grateful enough that you were back in uni, and have to forget about him even for a short period of time.
Though it didn’t last long, you can’t stay and hide in uni forever. So here you were, officially back home for a break, and you decided to stay at Max’s for the time being. Prior to arriving from uni, Max had already asked you if you wanted to come with them on their holiday trip, but you passed on it, making up some silly excuse and wanting to get the rest you need since you haven’t had the proper rest back when you were in uni. You wanted to avoid being in the same place with him as much as possible, you definitely don’t trust yourself to keep up the charade of hating him when your heart was screaming the exact opposite.
It was when they’re already back from their trip, and as usual, Lando is at Max’s place. You found yourself in exactly in the situation you’d been dreading. Max had invited Lando over to help him with something, and you figured you could just stay in your room, far away from the inevitable teasing from him. But when Max suddenly had to leave to deal with some urgent matter, you were stuck. It was just you and Lando, alone in the living room, with a show neither of you cared about playing in the background.
Lando being Lando, of course he wasted no time in getting into your nerves. “So, how long are you planning to hide up there?” He asked, his tone annoyingly casual as he sprawled out on the couch.
“I was not hiding,” you retorted, focusing on your phone and pretending he wasn’t there.
“Sure, you’re not,” he said with a smirk. “You’ve been acting pretty weird lately. You didn’t even come to the trip that we invited you on. Is everything alright?”
You nearly choked on your words. How could you even begin to explain what was wrong—that you were utterly terrified of how much you liked him? That every time he teased you, your heart skipped a beat instead of fuming with anger? That you couldn’t fucking stop thinking about what it would be like to kiss him.
“Everything’s fine,” you lied, hoping he couldn’t see the turmoil behind your eyes. God, you just wanted for this conversation to end or better yet, wishing for the ground to swallow you whole right then and there.
“Uh-huh,” Lando said, clearly unconvinced. He leaned forward, narrowing his eyes. “You’re a terrible liar, you know that?”
Your heart thudded painfully in your chest. “Oh my god, why do you even care?” You shot back defensively. “You’re just here to annoy me, right? So why don’t you just go call someone and bother them instead?”
Lando’s smirk faded slightly, and he studied you with an intensity that made you uncomfortable. “You think I just want to annoy you?”
“Yes!” You exclaimed, frustrated by his persistent questioning. “That’s what you’ve always done ever since, isn’t it?”
Lando shook his head, looking more serious than you’d ever seen him. “No. Not really.”
The shift in his demeanor threw you off balance. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He hesitated, running a hand through his beautiful curly hair that you want to touch so badly. “It means that maybe I didn’t just do it to annoy you. Maybe there was another reason.”
You blinked, your mind racing to keep up. “What reason?”
Lando sighed, leaning back on the couch and staring at the ceiling. “God, this is harder than I thought,” he muttered to himself before finally looking at you. “Look, I’ve known you since forever. Yeah, I used to tease you because you were Max’s younger sister and it was fun. But somewhere along the way, it wasn’t just about teasing anymore. I think I did it because…I didn’t know how else to get your attention.”
Your breath caught in your throat. “What are you saying, Lando?”
“I’m saying that maybe I’ve had a crush on you for a while now,” he admitted, his voice quieter than usual. “And I’ve been acting like an idiot because to be fairly honest, I didn’t know how to deal with it.”
You stared at him in utter shock, your brain struggling to process what he’d just said. All this time, you thought your feelings were unrequited, that he was just being his usual annoying self, but now, everything was different. The anger, the frustration, the confusion—it all made sense now.
“I…I don’t know what to say,” you whispered, still reeling from his confession. “Honestly.”
Lando smiled softly, a hint of nervousness in his expression. “You don’t have to say anything, I just want you to know. I get it if you don’t feel the same way, or if you’re too mad at me for being a jerk all these years. But I wanted to be completely honest with you for once.”
The room was silent for a moment, the air thick with tension and unspoken words. You took a deep breath, trying to steady your racing heart. “Lando, I—“
But before you could finish, Lando suddenly stood up, crossing the room in a few quick strides. “You know what? I can’t fucking take it anymore.” And with that, he grabbed your face in his hands and kissed you, pulling you into a kiss that was both urgent and tender at the same time.
For a split second, you were too shocked to respond. But then, your body seemed to take over, and you found yourself kissing back, all the frustration and anger melting away in the warmth of his embrace. It felt like everything you’d been holding back, all the mixed emotions you’d been burying, finally broke free. When Lando finally pulled back, you were both breathless, staring at each other in stunned silence.
“Why did you do that?” You asked, your voice shaky.
“Because I’ve wanting to do it for a long fucking time,” Lando admitted, his thumb gently brushing your cheek. “And because I couldn’t stand the thought of you hating me for real.”
You shook your head, a small smile tugging at your lips. “I don’t hate you, Lando. I…I think I might be falling for you, and it’s terrifying to tell you honestly.”
Lando grinned, his usual cocky demeanor returning. “Well, that’s a relief. Because I’m pretty sure I’m falling for you too.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, the tension between you dissolving into something warmer, something that felt a lot like hope.
“You’re still an asshole, though.”
“And you’re still a pain in the ass,” Lando shot back, his grin widening.
This time, there was no venom behind your words, no hidden frustration like it was used to. Instead, there was a new understanding between you—a mutual acknowledgment that maybe the thing you’d both been fighting against all these years was exactly what you needed. When Lando leaned in to kiss you again, you realized that no one else could make your heart race like he did, and no one else could make you as crazy or as happy.
However, Lando’s confession and that unexpected kiss did leave you feeling more confused as ever. As much as you wanted to believe in the moment, in the warmth of his touch and softness of his lips, a familiar fear gnawed at the back of your mind. After all, this is Lando Norris that you’re talking about—the guy who seemed to switch girlfriends at lightning speed. You’d seen him charm his way through countless girls, only to move on without any second thought. The idea of being just another name on his list made your chest tighten with fear and anxiety.
As you sat still, still close enough to feel the heat radiating from his body, Lando looked at you with a hopeful expression, waiting for you to say something. But instead of responding with the excitement that was bubbling up inside you, all you could think about were the stories, the rumors, and the heartbreaks you’d witnessed.
“Lando,” you began, moving away slightly, creating a small but significant distance between you and him on the couch. “I don’t know if this is a good idea.”
“Why not?” His smile faltered, concern creeping into his eyes.
You bit your lip, trying to find the right words that won’t hurt him. “Because…” you trailed off, “I know you, Lando. I know your way with girls. Yes, I can’t deny the fact that you’re very charming and sweet when you want to be, but the way you get bored and move on quickly scares me. I…I don’t think I can handle being just another girl you get tired of.” You breathed out.
Lando’s expression softened, and he reached out to take your hand, but you hesitated. He noticed this right away and dropped his hand to his side.
“I get why you’d think that. I haven’t exactly been the most reliable guy when it comes to relationships, am I?” You nodded and he chuckled, “but this…this is different.”
“Is it?” You asked, your voice barely above a whisper. “Or are you just saying that because I’m here and it’s convenient?”
Lando shook his head, gaze so intense that you might melt and turn into a puddle any second. “It’s not like that, I promise. I know I’ve messed up before, but I’ve never felt this way about anyone. You’re not just another girl, and I’m not just saying that. I’m really serious about you.”
You wanted to believe him, you really did. But the fear of getting your heart broken, of being left behind like so many others, made it hard to fully trust his words.
“But what if you get bored? What if this is just a phase for you, and once you’ve had your fun, you move on to someone else?”
He looked at you with an earnestness that you weren’t used to seeing him. “I can’t blame you for being scared. But the truth is, I’m scared too. I’m scared because I’ve never wanted someone so much, something to work out this badly. I don’t want to mess this up. I know I have a reputation, but I don’t want that to be who I am with you. I want to be better—for you.”
You stared at him, your heart warring with your head. Could he really mean what he was saying? Was it possible that he could change, that you could be the one he was serious about? But even as the doubts swirled around you, there was a part of you that desperately wanted to take the leap, to believe that maybe this could be different.
“I don’t know if I can handle getting hurt,” you admitted, your voice trembling slightly. “I don’t know if I’m strong enough for that.”
Lando took a deep breath, his expression sincere. “I can’t promise that I’ll be perfect, but I can promise that I’ll try my best not to hurt you.” He said, tucking a few strands of your hair behind your ear, “I care about you too much to let that happen. But if you don’t want to take the risk, I’ll understand. I’ll back off if that’s what you want.”
You could see the honesty in his eyes, the vulnerability he rarely showed. It made your heart ache, knowing that he was giving you the power to decide where this would go. It would be easy to walk away, to protect yourself from the possibility of pain. But then again, what if he was telling the truth, what if this was real.
“No, I don’t want you to back off,” you finally said, your voice steady despite the nerves twisting in your stomach. “But I need time, Lando. I need to see that you’re serious before I can let myself fall for you completely.”
Lando nodded, relief washing over his face. “I’ll give you all the time you need. I’m not going anywhere.”
You smiled, feeling a bit of the tension ease, though the uncertainty still lingered. “Good. Because I’m not sure I could handle it if you did.”
As the two of you sat side by side on the couch, the show was still playing in the background, the atmosphere between you had shifted. There was no rush, no need to force anything. It was just the two of you, slowly navigating the complicated mess of emotions that came with falling for someone who scared you as much as they made you feel alive, and maybe that this was the start of something real.

a/n: please note there is a written part after these 6 pictures!! don't forget to read it because it is part of something important.
“breathe.” yvette says as she pats your back. it was suffocating. the sink was bloodied up, splatters of blood that you had coughed up in a span of 5 minutes. mae runs in with a bottle in her hands.
“here, drink up.” she quickly opens the bottle up and hands it over to you. you took the bottle and quickly drank it.
“why didn’t you tell us it was this bad. we obviously knew that jake was your soulmate but we didn’t think that your body would react this way.” yvette looks at you.
“you’d honestly think that this disease would be a mythical thing but it is very much true.” mae says. you felt the tears fall down your face. yvette wipes them for you. she looks at you with such pity and such care.
“man, fuck that bitch.” she declares. “making such a sexy girl cry? not very girl’s girl coded of her.”
“she doesn’t know. i don’t think jake would tell her. besides, he doesn’t even know i’m his soulmate.”
“well, i think she would find out either ways. she’s such a weirdo.” mae huffs. yvette nods.
“what are you going to do?” yvette asks.
“live with it.”
“but you’re going to cough out blood if you keep seeing them so loving and disgusting.”
“it’s okay. once it gets worse, i’ll just get the surgery.”
“to remove your feelings? (name), you can’t seriously be thinking of doing this.” mae sighs. “i’ve seen people decide to go through with the surgery, they aren’t like themselves. once you do it, there will also be complications in the end. you won’t live for long.”
“there is no other way. if end up dead then so be it. i can’t let jake know. he’s very much in love with aria. he would never love me.” you sobbed. yvette pulls you closer and keeps you in her arms.
“hey hey, let’s not talk about death. you’re alive and well right now. let’s live your life to the fullest and make the best out of it. you aren’t dying.” she mutters. mae grabs your hand and lightly squeezes it.
“yeah, who cares about jake and aria. you have sunghoon, your friends, your brother and us. we are there for you.”
you were thankful for the people who were close to you. you had wiped your tears and nodded. “you’re right.”
there were a series of knocks at the bathroom door. yvette rolls her eyes and opens the door. “we’re having a sentimental moment here.”
“sorry, girls. just checking in to see if (name) is okay.” jay says.
“that or are you already missing mae?” yvette folds her arms. jay awkwardly laughs a little.
“maybe but i’m more concerned for my best friend of course.” you laughed a little and sniffled. you pushed mae forward towards jay.
“take her oh my god. you find out she’s your soulmate and you can’t stop being away from her.”
jay shrugs. sunghoon steps forward and hugs you.
"I'm not dying, hoon."
"just let me hug you. you need it." he says. your smile falters a little. "you can cry, you know?"
"i already cried just now."
"and? you can cry again and I wouldn't judge."
"I know you won't, hoon."
your brother comes up to you. "okay, break it up. can I hug my sister?"
sunghoon lets you go, and leehan easily replaces him. "when did you get so big?"
"I've always been big." he says. you laughed.
"okay, but you're my baby brother."
"yes, i am." you ruffled his hair and he pulls back from the hug.
"let's go back. those two are probably wondering where we are." taesan says.
"the last i saw them they were making out-" *whack* ni-ki winces when sun whacks him.
"don't even mention that." sunoo warns.
"right, sorry noona." ni-ki pouts. you sighed a little.
"it's fine, ni-ki."
you could see jake and aria coming closer to the group. jake was mainly concerned about everyone but aria...she's just kinda following jake.
"hey, why is everyone gathering around here?" jake asks.
"oh, there was a slight mishap so (name) called the girls over. we were worried so we waited outside for them." heeseung explains.
"you could've told us."
"yeah, but you were busy making out with aria so we didn't want to bother the both of you." sunghoon says. there was a petty tone underlying as he tells jake.
"what the fuck is your problem?" jake comes up to sunghoon. sunghoon scoffs.
"nothing."
"nothing? you said that the other time and then you went on a tangent hating on my girlfriend." jake folds his arms.
sunghoon rolls his eyes. "well, I'm right either ways. you were sooooo oblivious and busy with aria that even when (name) got hurt or had an issue you didn't care."
"she's fine now, isn't she? you guys took good care of her. she's in good hands, so i trust you guys to care for her. after all, I'm just her best friend and I am busy with my girlfriend. You don't understand me because you don't have a girlfriend!" jake yells at sunghoon.
you start to cough up again. this time when you look down at your hand, not only was there blood but there was a petal. the first petal to have ever appeared. you had looked up to see everyone staring at you. jake's jaw dropped when he saw the blood in your palms.
you didn't know what else to do other than run away. sunghoon glared at jake once more before he runs after you.
this was moving too fast...
were you dying?

Gerald’s Journal - Disability representation
I read scans of Gerald’s Journal and I have to talk about it. Not the lore or anything like that, but the disability rep. I didn’t expect to cry reading this.
Please don’t look at this post if you don’t want to be spoiled about what’s in this journal. If you do want to read it, you can find scans here. Credit to this Twitter/X thread for the images I’ll use.
I don’t have much to say about this image, but it is nice to see Maria using a mobility aid. It’s not often we get representation for an ambulatory wheelchair user.
I do wonder about Maria’s relationship with her parents. They weren’t happy with Gerald’s wish to bring her to the ARK so that he could research a cure for her, but they let her go anyways? Maybe Gerald got some sort of order to get her to go or Maria decided she wanted to go with him, but it seems a little odd to me. I’ll expand on this a little later.
Quote from right page: “[Maria] is growing into a lovely young woman. It breaks my heart that someone as bright and energetic as her is diminished by disease. There are no visible effects, and I’ve caught my fellow researchers muttering to each other, doubting her illness. It is infuriating. I find all my reason and restraint vanished when she’s slighted.”
Oh my days, I’ve never felt so seen by a piece of media and it just so happens to be my special interest video game. I am tearing up again thinking about this. Maybe that’s silly but to have a character express his frustrations about people doubting the invisible disability of his grandchild is so touching. I wish people in my life were more like Gerald. People with invisible illnesses get doubted so much because we “look fine”, but it’s so invalidating to have your struggles questioned just because the symptoms aren’t as visibly obvious.
Quote from left page: “[Maria] doesn’t know the full scope of what [Shadow] has been designed for, but she understands he will be under tremendous strain. She’s helped me conceptualize a number of accessories that will help focus his power and aid in his mobility.”
So we now have confirmation that Shadow’s air shoes and inhibitor rings are akin to mobility aids. I headcanoned this but I didn’t know they’d flat out confirm it like that. My favourite character is canonically disabled physically (and I’d argue mentally given his PTSD). I don’t have much to say about this besides being happy that my favourite character is now even more relatable.
It also makes a lot of sense for Maria to help create them because she has experience with her own disability and can offer a perspective that an able bodied person couldn’t. That and it makes Shadow’s connection so much stronger. His mobility aids were designed by Maria. He didn’t just help her with her disability - she helped with his. He wouldn’t be able to function without what she and Gerald created for him.
Quote from the right: “Back on Earth [Maria’s?] parents have been blessed with another little girl. They’re already run tech(?) and she has none of the genetic markers like to [Maria’s] condition. While this was welcomed news, the unspoken commentary was received loud and clear.”
(I am assuming they’re talking about Maria’s sister, but I guess they could also be talking about her cousin.)
So did Maria’s parents see their new daughter as a replacement? If I’m reading that correctly, it’s so sad. Do you think Gerald told Maria about her sister/cousin? If she did know about it, I bet she was excited to meet her. But I get the feeling that her parents back home didn’t really care about her anymore given what Gerald says in his journal. It hurts that much more when you consider how much Maria wanted to go home, perhaps even return to her family.
I feel like all of this makes Maria’s death more tragic for both Gerald and Shadow. For Gerald, he did so much reason and sacrificed so much in order to try and find a cure for Maria. He supported her when no one else did. And from his perspective, despite her illness and the judgement of others, including potentially her own family, she was still positive. And yet she was killed, and he only found out about her death because of a report that had her name on it (I think anyways?).
From Shadow’s perspective, she is the person who gave his name meaning. Despite most being distant and weary of her, she was immediately friendly to him and helped teach him about the world. She helped created the devices used to reduce his pain and control his powers. He quite literally carries part of him with her. She was his sole reason for existing for a long time. And despite being this super supportive, kind, loving person, she was killed. I can imagine him being mad at Gerald for messing with his memories, but I figure there’s a degree of understanding, even if he doesn’t fully agree with what Gerald did. The difference between them both is Shadow’s purpose shifted beyond Maria while Gerald’s did not. Anyways, I digress - this post is about disability rep, not Shadow lore.
I love this and Dark Beginnings for their direct and indirect disability rep. My love for Shadow and Maria has only grown and I have a deeper appreciation for Gerald. I wish more people were as understanding as he is towards people with invisible disabilities.
I don’t really have a conclusion. I just really wanted to yap about the journal entries.

⋆·˚ ༘ * only bought this dress so you could take it off (take it off!)
warnings: iykyk…
pairing: percy jackson x daughter of hades and persephone
series master list
this time aphrodite wasn’t here to help you get ready which disappointed you in a way. this time percy’s mother helps. a plus side was that your brother would still be walking you down the aisle
“does it feel weird not living in your palace?” asks sally
“well I lived there my whole life. I don’t think I ever liked growing up in royalty though, my father was always controlling of me and my siblings”
“so I’ve heard”
you nod your head. “it was awful. my sister even moved out when she was of age. I don’t speak to her often either but I’m hoping I’ll be able to visit some time”
“I didn’t know you had a sister?”
“melinoe. she’s a goddess”
“minor?”
“very. my parents kind of wanted her to be kept a secret but I suppose I told you so it’s not really a secret anymore” you laugh
sally finishes tying your hair back and puts her hands on your shoulders. “you look lovely. percy is very lucky”
your cheeks flush a pink hue at the mere mention of your soon-to-be husband. good gods of olympus— if someone told you a month ago you would be marrying him instead of his brother you would’ve laughed in their face. yet here you are. you can’t help but feel nervous about this, yes you had been seeing percy since you were twelve and you were beyond comfortable being in this relationship but what if he didn’t feel that way? gods this whole marriage was your fault, I mean you’re only eighteen what if it was too early? did he actually not want to get married?
“oh, dear. you look like you’ve seen a ghost”
“I don’t think I thought things through”
sally frowns and sits on the bench beside you. “nervous?”
“yes. do you think percy really wants to get married? or is he just saying it so I can be happy?”
“(name), marriage is the only topic he has been able to stay on since it happened. I can assure you he is over the moon about this”
you feel tears brewing in your eyes but you quickly push them back to prevent ruining your makeup. “really?”
“yes, darling. I’d never lie to you”
you open your mouth to speak but the door opens, revealing your brother. “we’re starting in five”
you turn back to sally and mutter a quiet ‘thank you’ before exiting the room with nico and you begin walking out to the double doors leading to the beach
“take two” nico jokes, holding his arm out for you to link yours with, instead you throw your arms around him, without a doubt he returns the embrace
“thank you, nico”
“for what?”
“for being my brother”
“well then you’ll be happy to know I’ll always be your brother. even if you decide you hate me”
you pull away with a sigh and loop your arms through his. “I think I’m ready”
“promise me something”
“anything”
“you’ll visit me in the underworld”
“I will. I’m sure percy isn’t very welcome there anymore though”
you both burst out into an uncontrollable laughter. when you try to get any words out your stopped but your inability to breathe
“oh my gods— imagine dad’s face!”
the image of hades seeing your boyfriend husband fills your mind, making you lose any breath you had left. you decide to add onto the fit, “do you know— how dad was so eager to get me married-” you breathe out “he was obsessed with triton I’m starting to think he likes him more than mom”
“now that’s a wedding I would like to attend”
when both of your breathing steadies back to normal you collect yourself and wipe the slight tears that streamed down your face, fixing your hair to assure you like presentable for guests
“okay I’m ready for real now”
“then let’s get you married!”
you take in one last deep breath before opening the double doors and walking out onto the platform covering the sandy ground. the scent of salt water fills your scenes instantly. this time it wasn’t because of your asshole ex husband. this may have been the most nerve wracking part of the wedding— people watching your every move, but when your eyes meet a pair of sea-green ones your nerves feel at peace
when you finally make your way to the altar you hug nico once more before ushering him to his seat, then taking both percy’s hands into yours to prevent them from shaking anymore
“strapless dress? how’d you know those are my favorites?”
your cheeks flush red and you roll your eyes. “shut up”
“want me to save the dirty talk for later? I understand, my mouth is sealed”
when everyone finally settles the officiate begins speaking all that nonsense that they say at weddings. you’ve never actually been to one but you supposed if you were in the crowd this might have been the perfect opportunity to take a nap. he talked on and on for what felt like forever until the vows and until the ending kiss— your personal favorite part. when he finally said the iconic ‘you may kiss the bride’ you were sure you’ve never seen percy move as fast as he did then, quickly throwing your arms around each other into a very non-audience appropriate kiss which on a normal day you would’ve scolded percy for but you were to happy to care about anything right now
ੈ✩‧₊˚
you didn’t end up getting home until around midnight unfortunately. and you should have seen it that the moment you got walked through the doors percy would be eagerly sliding your dress zipper down. you made him wait however— finding it amusing every time you pulled his hands off you, making him wait until you were in your shared bedroom. after what felt like percy’s whole life (he was sure it had been) he was able to unzip your white dress
“you’re quite eager” you laugh. percy ignores your comment and slides your dress off once the zipper was undone, you fumble with your legs to throw it on the floor, then connect your lips back with percy’s as you unbutton his white shirt
“have I told you that you look gorgeous tonight?” he mumbles into your mouth, making butterflies erupt into a frenzy in your stomach
“fifteen times”
when finally you unbutton the rest of the shirt you tear it off and throw it to the side— you only hope it didn’t hit anything important. percy then slides his hand from your bare waist to your underwear, and slowly slides them down your legs. you know for sure you’re not getting even a second of sleep tonight

-----
You were relaxing on the bow of the yacht, staring out over an amazing view.
You’d had a delicious brunch with Aperol spritzes, and as the yacht floated on the beautiful Gulf of Genoa, the only sounds you heard were of the water, John Coltraine, and the scratching of Steve’s pencil against the paper of his sketch pad.
He had been wonderful, and contemplative, company for you.
Your time was spent journaling and looking at the water and the cliffs, rotating your lounger with the sun. You even dozed for a few minutes, waking up to find Steve looking at you piercingly as he sketched.
Your sister was right.
Steve was very much into you.
You could get used to this you thought as you got up and walked over to Steve, who looked up at you and smiled.
“Can I see what you’re sketching?”
Steve blushed, and then moved so that you could sit down beside him.
“Sure.”
He put his pencils down and handed his leather bound sketch book to you. You gasped.
“Steve! These are…”
You flipped the pages, looking to him for approval. He nodded and smiled at you.
There were many images, on the boat, some very detailed from the day, some rough sketches, but they were all clearly you. You turned to one drawing of you naked, and it made you feel some kind of way.
You’d never posed that way for him.
“Drew that one from memory. Last night.”
“You make me look so…”
“Beautiful? Then that just means I’m drawing you accurately.”
“You really see me this way?”
You were gazing at the sketches with wonder.
“I can’t believe that you don’t. Y/N. You are one of the most beautiful, most desirable women I’ve ever seen. People talk about Aria, but she looks just like you.”
You turned and put the sketch book down on the table beside Steve’s lounger.
“Can I have a kiss?”
Steve’s eyes lit up.
“You can have anything you want.”
“I want you…”
Steve groaned as you climbed up on his lap and grabbed his face. You traced his lips with your fingers before he closed the distance between you and captured yours with his own. You were breathless before he pulled back and rested his forehead on yours.
“That was… nice.”
Steve shifted, sending his crotch grinding into yours and relishing the way you shivered in his arms.
“You want me?”
Steve looked back up at you. Hopeful.
“Yes. And I want to try. A relationship? Dating once we get back to the states? It will be hard. I travel a lot with what I do, go from coast to coast, and all over the world with Aria.”
You were nervously speaking in questions.
“Hmmm. Wonder how I could get from coast to coast, and all over the world? Oh right, I have two airplanes and I’m a pilot.”
Steve smirked at you as you smacked him on the arm.
“I just don’t want you to feel as if you have to chase after me. Or wait for me to get back when I need to go. Long distance can be hard.”
Steve nodded, and then gave you a quick peck on your lips.
“I know. But I would follow you to the ends of the earth. And I’ve already waited for 20 years. What’s a little longer?”
“How can you be so damn perfect?”
You attacked him, kissing him again as he laughed and grabbed you, holding you close.
“Not perfect, maybe just perfect for you?”
“Maybe,” you smiled into his shirt as you traced a vein down his arm.
“But I want a do over.”
“A do over of what?”
“Of our first date.”
“Tonight?”
“Yes, tonight. But first, I wonder if you will give me some? Please? Pretty please Steve?”
You reached down and grasped his hardness in your hand; Steve moaned.
Steve’s mouth was open as you begged for him.
“Oh Baby, you have no idea how much I want that.”
You whined as you moved your hips to feel more of him.
“Steve… need you…”
Your sultry whisper in his ear made him weak.
“Me too. I just … I want it to be special… to take our time…”
“I need you inside me, Captain.”
“Fuuuuuck.…I want that too, Doll. So bad… I dreamt of it last night.”
Steve moved so that his mouth was on your neck.
“You taste like coconuts right now. Why is that?”
“Hmmmm. Flavored body oil spray. It’s edible.”
“Well then, I need to taste more…later. “
You writhed against him hoping for some relief.
“So desperate. I love it when you get needy for me, Baby.”
Steve took in your face and your lips opened in desire. He grabbed the back of your neck, wrapping his hand around your face and inserted his thumb into your mouth. You sucked at it greedily which made him groan again.
“Is that what you want?”
You moaned around his digit and nodded, your heart about to beat out of your chest. Steve leaned down to whisper in your ear as he shoved his thumb further past your tongue and held your mouth open.
“I loved the way you took it in your mouth yesterday. Such a good, good throat. Such a good, sweet girl for me.”
His hand was now at the crotch of your bathing suit and your eyes rolled back into your head at his filthy words as he gagged you with his digit. His long fingers on his other hand pulled the suit to the side and slowly inserted two inside you.
“I can barely get in here, Sweetheart. You’re gonna struggle to take me …”
You grunted, both at what he was doing to you and at what he was saying.
“Yes… you’ll have to be patient just a little while longer. Tonight…”
His wet thumb was caressing your nipples over your bathing suit now. You were frustrated.
“You’re all talk.”
“And you’ll do whatever I say. Later.”
Steve’s words and his steely eyed stare were speaking straight to your pussy. You clenched down on his fingers and he moaned.
“So fucking right. Patience, Doll. Just a little while longer. Meanwhile, you and I need to cool down.”
Steve abandoned you to take off his shirt, laughing at your lust before he reached down to gather you in his arms again while approaching the passerelle.
“Can you get your hair wet?”
“Yes, I planned on swimming, but are you really about to throw me in the water right now?”
“No. “
Steve shook his head as he stopped on the edge.
“Good.”
You smiled as you took in the view.
“I figure we’d take the plunge together.”
And then he backed up and ran toward the edge, you squealing in his arms, the warm mediterranean water separating you when you hit the surface. Soon you felt his arms slip back around you as you found each other again and kissed in the warm Italian sun.
You wanted this moment to last forever.
—-
You made it through the 6 hour voyage and back to the hotel to change for dinner. The meal was nice, with great wine and even better conversation.
After the meal, Steve asked a question as you walked to the elevators.
“Does that invitation to your suite still stand?”
You pressed your back into the elevator wall as Steve pressed the button for your floor before you even answered his question.
This cocky bastard. It was so hot.
“Sure, are we gonna have a pillow fight?” You raised your arms to his board shoulders as he leaned down to your ear.
“Did you say pillow bite?”
You cocked your head at him, smirking.
“So it’s like that?”
“Very much so.”
You kissed him as the doors opened onto your floor. Steve kept his hands on you as you opened your door and immediately had you up against the first available surface once the door closed hands and mouth everywhere he could reach.
After you two almost broke what looked to be a very expensive vase, Steve stepped back from you, lips swollen from your kisses and chest heaving.
“D’you want me as much as I want you?”
You realized now that the look on Steve’s face that you’d once interpreted to be irritation with you or annoyance, was in fact concentration. You pondered the meaning of being the center of his attention as you moved toward him.
“Do you not remember the way I took your cock down my throat the other day?”
You pressed your body against his and Steve swore, growling in your ear.
“Oh yes. That was truly.” He kissed your neck.
“Truly.”
This time the kiss was on the plane of your chin.
“Truly amazing.”
He kissed your lips softly when you decided you were tired of playing around. You grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the bedroom.
—-
Soon, you were both naked in the bedroom, a bottle of Prosecco rescued from the honor bar and opened on the dresser. Your eyes were drawn to Steve Rogers, who was as beautiful as one of the statues in the Galleria Borghese.
Steve was grasping his cock at the base as his eyes swept over your body. He was remembering the taste of you.
“You are so beautiful.”
He squeezed himself harder and tried to keep from moving his hand up and down his thick shaft as you stared and licked your lips.
“Come over here, Stevie. Please.”
You lay on the bed on your stomach, showcasing your ass and looking at him invitingly. Stave moved closer, but stopped.
“What if I told you that I wasn’t going to fuck you tonight?”
You began to pout.
“Fix that face.”
That command made you whimper at the power in his voice.
“You are going to fuck me, Doll.”
“What?”
Steve reached for your hand as he switched places with you. Then he lay there and resumed stroking himself. You licked your lips at the sight and retrieved the bottle of Prosecco, suddenly very thirsty.
You contemplated the power he was giving you, and decided you liked this rush of control.
“I like the idea of that, Steve. I’ll get to express exactly how much I want you.”
You took a swig and leaned down to kiss him, giving him a taste from your lips. He licked your mouth as you thumbed his nipples, causing him to shiver from your cold touch. You couldn’t resist tasting his cherry red lips again and again as you lightly squeezed his throat, then ran your hand down his sternum and his abs to the tip of his wet cock.
You grazed the length of him down to his balls, then looked into his eyes and kissed his lips as you took control of him.
“Your lips are perfect,” you whispered as you caressed him.
“No. yours,” replied Steve as he sought your mouth again.
“You like my mouth?”
As you leaned to teasingly kiss the thick cap of his cock, then took him fully down your throat
“Oh.. Shit…”
Steve massaged your scalp as you bobbed on him
“You are so fucking hot, Doll…”
You looked up with a smile and moved to lick his nipple, then kiss him again as you stroked him. Steve was mesmerized. Your hands, your lips, your tongue, he couldn’t concentrate on any one part of you that was ruining him.
It was sensation overload, and he needed to focus to not shoot off.
You were drunk on power. You spit on his cock, deep-throated him once, twice more, and then pulled away, causing Steve to groan as you withdrew contact, your sloppy blow job scrambling his brain. His head was on a swivel as he watched you get up to go to the dresser.
“May I?”
Steve nodded, eager for what was to come. You had a small spray bottle in your hand, and when the liquid made contact with his body, he jumped from the sensation. You rubbed the oil on his cock and up his body to his nipples, basking in the rapt attention he paid you as you sprayed yourself between your breasts. Steve’s cock got impossibly harder in your hand at the sight.
“I think I’m gonna like this.
You loved to hear his sexy deep voice break.
“You like me?”
“Yeah. I…”
Steve trailed off as your hands roamed his body.
“I like you too, Stevie,” you kissed him again. ”
Steve actually whimpered as you swung your leg over his hips and sat down on his cock, rubbing your pussy along his shaft as it lay against his stomach. He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw to keep from manhandling you.
“I wanna try that sweet cunt.”
“Hmmm. Is it sweet? Wanna taste it again?”
You leaned back and circled your clit with two fingers, then inserted them into his pretty mouth. Steve’s adam's apple bobbed as he sucked your fingers and swallowed your taste. You pulled away to suck his cock again until he was moaning, at which point you kissed and licked your way up his body, settling your thighs at his shoulders.
He gripped your ass as he turned hushed head so that his lips could kiss your thigh. His fingers reached around your leg to play in your crease as he gave your clit kitten licks and kisses. You tried to move back down, but he grasped your thighs hard enough to leave bruises that would give you daydreams the next day. He started sucking your clit so intently that you began seeing stars.
“Wanna fuck you now, Stevie. Wanna cum on your cock”
You were on the edge as Steve pulled off of your clit with an obscene slurp.
“I’m yours, Y/N.”
You reached back and grabbed his throbbing cock as you scooted your pelvis down, one hand on his neck and one hand positioning him to enter you. His shaft was large, but the head was even wider, and the stretch as you worked yourself open on him made you moan loudly. Steve grabbed your chin to make you look at him while you slid down his length, stretching yourself out so incredibly well.
“My cock looks so big against your tiny pussy.”
His eyes were riveted.
“It is big, Captain. You’re so huge.”
You grabbed the headboard while you adjusted to his size. Steve’s hands came up around your waist and held you steady as you trembled around him.
Those blue eyes looked up at you with adoration.
“You are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Are you okay, Doll?”
“It feels amazing,” you stared down into his eyes and smiled, your slick leaking down his thick shaft to collect and drip off his balls.
“Yes. Yes it does. Holy mother god.”
He looked down to where you were connected.
“You’re wrapped around me so tight and so good, Doll.”
Steve looked up at you and licked his lips, pupils blown wide and struck dumb by lust.
You leaned down and kissed him when you bottomed out on him.
You stared at each other as you both finally got what you wanted. You took his head in your hands and kissed him as you pounded together.
Then you started moving.
Steve played with your nipples and you arched backwards as he planted his feet and pistoned up into you faster.
“Oh! Steve. Feel so full. So good.”
Steve wrapped his arms around your waist and held you in place as his hips moved at the devil's pace. The sound of his dick breaching your wet pussy and skin slapping on skin was everything. His thumb went to your clit and traced figure eights as you shuddered in his grip.
“F-f-f- u-u-u-ck! I’m- I’m coming!”
“Give it to me!”
He stroked you through your orgasm and then sat up, manipulating you so that you were sitting back on your arms in his lap as he moved you up and down his cock like a sex toy.
“Shit, you feel so good!”
Steve looked down at you and then up at the ceiling, eyes rolling
“Jesus, you’re so fucking hot.”
You looked down and the image of Steve’s large member destroying your hole was enough to make you cum around his cock again. Steve took control, taking your hips in his large hands and moving you at his will.
“Oh my god.”
He ground you against the base of his cock and started grinding circles for his greedy eyes and your pleasure. You were addicted.
“Such a good little slut for my cock. Need you to give me one more. That’s it. Good girl.”
He grabbed you by the hair and kissed you as you shuddered through your orgasm and suddenly, you were on your back as Steve flipped you over, getting on his knees and folding you in half to fuck you even better.
Steve stopped as he tried to hold back.
“You got me so close Doll… I gotta calm down.”
“I just want you to stuff me full of your cum, Captain.”
“Ooohhhhhh. Fuck.”
Steve sped up and then stopped, trying to calm down. But he couldn’t help what he said next that turned out to be his doom.
“Are- are you trying to have my baby, Y/N.”
You arched against him, shuddering at the thought.
“Nnnnnnoooooo. Fuck. Maybe.”
“You wanna be all round and full of my child, tits so full of milk…so I can suck… holy fuck!”
The image was making Steve start to shoot off.
“Fill me up, Steve–I”
“Ahhh!”
And then you keened as you felt his hot cum start to spurt against your walls. You came around his rapidly pulsing cock as he finished inside you.
You two were a hot, sweaty heap as you came down together, Steve kissing your forehead and praising you.
“You did so good for me.”
He gathered you in his arms.
“I love you.”
Steve gazed at you.
“Think I’ve been in love with you for 20 years, Y/N.”
You smiled at him.
“I love you too.”
You said it, barely above a whisper. But you meant it. Then you said it again.
“I love you, Steve Rogers.”
You attacked him, kissing him again as he laughed and grabbed you, holding you close.
“All of the bad things that we’ve gone through to get to this moment is for the best. I can see that now.”
Steve looked to you just like that little boy you met 20 years ago. Then you saw the beautiful man who loved you.
“You’re right. And this, right now. It’s the best of all.”

Stupid In Love
Logan Sargeant x Fem!Reader
*ੈ✩‧₊˚Word count: 5k
*ੈ✩‧₊˚Warnings: fluff, slight angst and arguments, reader is written as American but only mentioned a few times, brief use of one bed trope, possible grammatical errors, no use of y/n, switches pov and might not be obvious, a little rushed, swearing, alcohol, I'm American (I think that should be a warning 🤷♀ ), American football, images used are not mine as are from pinterest, was written before Logans replacement =(
*ੈ✩‧₊˚Summary: Your sister invites you to her wedding, theres only one problem: you're single and your family has already been pressuring you about it. Logan offers to be your date, what can go wrong? or you and Logan being oblivious about your feeling for one another while fake dating
‧₊˚ ✩°。⋆♡ ⋆˙⟡♡ ⋆˙⟡♡⋆。°✩˚₊‧₊˚ ✩°。⋆♡ ⋆˙⟡♡ ⋆˙⟡♡⋆。°✩˚
You’re unsure of how or why you fell in love with Logan, but you fell hard and fast– so fast that it made it impossible for you to catch yourself before it was too late. What you did know was that your feelings were not reciprocated. Despite what your shared friends said, Logan was not in love with you, and he definitely did not look at you as if you hung up the moon and the stars. Though you were an idiot when it came to love, there was only one thing worse than someone who is an idiot about love. That is an idiot in love, and that's what you were– stupidly in love.
“My sister is getting married, and our parents have made it their mission to rub it in my face. They act like I’m pushing fifty– I’m only twenty fucking two that's not old,” you groaned, letting your body drop onto the couch in your living room.
Logan watched you from across the room– face scrunching up at the mention of your parent's comments, “That's definitely not old, so what if you're not dating someone? There are more important things in life.”
“They think otherwise; they think that my life is a failure because I’ve never been in a serious relationship, or at least not one I considered serious– like that somehow defines me as a person,” the sound of rustling in the kitchen catching your attention, “Are you seriously eating without me?” you ask, instantly sitting up, looking in the direction of the kitchen.
“No.”
“You’re a horrible liar; you're literally talking with your mouth full right now.”
“Okay, okay, sorry. But seriously, what's so bad about your sister getting married? Besides the comments made by your parents?” Logan asked, handing you a french fry as you approached the kitchen.
“Nothing is wrong; she just had the bright idea of giving me a plus one; can you believe her? That fucking cunt, she knows I’m a pathetic loser with no love life, and she still gave me a plus one,” you dramatically shove food into your mouth.
“She did not,” Logan said, letting out an overdramatic fake gasp before breaking into a fit of laughter– bending over slightly and holding onto his stomach. He was a good friend– a great one even, but now, as he stood there laughing, you couldn't help but feel annoyed. It wasn't annoyment because of the situation or the fact that he was laughing at the situation– no, you were annoyed at the fact that he looked so good doing it.
“You’re an asshole; stop laughing at me,” you say, throwing a french fry at Logan from across your kitchen island, watching as he attempts to catch it with his mouth and failing miserably. Even something so minuscule as that action, something he usually did when you threw food at him, caught your attention.
“It’s not the end of the world; it’s just a wedding,” Logan threw food back at you, his smile falling as he noticed your pensive stare.
“Yeah, a wedding where I’ll be hounded about finding a boyfriend and potential husband,” you let your head fall against the kitchen counter, letting out a loud sigh, silently whispering to yourself– asking the universe what you had done wrong to deserve this fate.
“If you’re really worried about getting made fun of, I’ll go with you. I’ll pretend to be your boyfriend,” he said nonchalantly, and you felt him rest his head beside yours against the counter. You turn to face him, opening your eyes to meet his own, and you immediately notice he's smiling again. A soft smile that makes your stomach feel fuzzy– the type of fuzzy you probably shouldn't be feeling. You could almost feel yourself shifting your head towards his own, but it never moved. It was a good thing, though you couldn't help but feel frustrated with yourself. Logan was your friend– you could probably consider him your best friend, yet here you were, feeling like a fool.
“Really? You’re not joking right now?” you asked, voice barely above a whisper, afraid that the tone of your voice would betray you and reveal your thoughts and feelings.
“Not joking, I’ll do it," he straightens himself, resting his elbow on the counter, tilting his head, waiting for your response.
“You’re an angel, Logan,” you jump from your position to wrap your arms around him, hugging him tightly– you're sure you're cutting off his air supply. Though he'd never complain, Logan had never been the type to complain when you hugged him too tightly. It was something you never understood about him, why he put up with so much of your bullshit– the sudden wedding invitation included.
“Only for you,” he hugged you back, though not as tight as you were hugging him, gently patting your back, “So when’s the wedding?”
“In a month.”
“Oh, wow… you could’ve told me sooner,” his voice full of shock and disbelief as he pried himself out of the hug to look at you.You couldn't help but feel disappointed at the lack of close physical contact– something you rarely felt. Whenever you ended a hug with Logan, you felt normal, as if it were any other hug. This felt different, a type of difference that you couldn't quite place. Maybe it was fear, or maybe you just didn't know the feeling– all you knew was that you were glad you would have time with him on this trip.
“Well, I sorta thought I’d have a date by now,” you said, voice dripping with melancholy and regret. For a while, the first three months since you got the invitation, to be exact, you had hoped and expected to find a date. You had come close to doing so, falling short every time, realizing that you had high standards that most men did not meet. But as you stared at Logan, you wondered if perhaps, this whole time, you had been waiting for him– not him in particular, but someone like him.
“Okay, well, where is the wedding being held?”
“My parents' house, where we grew up. It's a ranch, nothing too crazy,” you could already imagine the fresh air of the property and the salty breeze of the nearby beach. The thought of relaxation quickly crashed by the topic of your current conversation– the wedding. Of course, there would be no relaxation during a wedding, especially not at your sister's wedding, where you would have to pretend to be dating your best friend.
“So more of a family only with a few friends, type of wedding?”
“Exactly,” you took a bite of the food that had gone forgotten for a moment, “I owe you big time,” you assured Logan. It would be shitty of you if you didn't at least offer up the idea of being indebted to him– though, truthfully, you knew Logan would never hold this above you, let alone actually make you pay the debt.
“Yeah, you do.”
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
The drive to your parent's house from the airport is quiet, the argument from before still lingering between you. You feel Logan’s eyes occasionally dart between you and the road. He lets out a deep sigh, pulling over at a shoulder, turning off the ignition, and turning to face you— his eyes examining you as you look straight ahead. You could sense his hesitation, but refused to acknowledge the situation, still mad at what he had done earlier. The road was eerily empty, and as the sun set, the approaching night seemed to set the mood for the current state of your friendship— cold and dimming.
“This was a mistake,” you finally say, turning to look at Logan, watching as he shakes his head— dryly laughing at your words.
“This would’ve been fine if you had told me your family was still close to your ex,” you can tell he is attempting to keep a calm demeanor, voice tense with a slight shake.
“I didn’t think it was important,” you feel frustrated with the situation, and your voice showed it. You had meant for it to sound that way– you weren't mad at Logan; you could never be mad at him... or maybe you were.
“You didn’t think it was important to tell your date that your ex-boyfriend will be there too?” his eyes wide with disbelief at the audacity of your statements. You, of course, felt as if he was exaggerating– making a big deal out of something as small as a family friendship.
“This is fake, Logan— this isn’t a real date. It’s not like I had an actual obligation to tell you!” you yelled at him, mind foggy– you weren't thinking straight, aggravated in the situation at hand, and annoyed with your sister more than anything. Though you could feel your anger and frustration with Logan rise.
He goes quiet, jaw clenching and hand gripping the steering wheel to the point where his knuckles are turning white, as he angrily turns the car back on. You were unsure if you should break the silence, afraid to further escalate the situation. The tension only grew the further he drove and the closer you got to your childhood home.
"Look, I'm sorry for overreacting. I know we're not actually dating, but I want your family to like me," he finally says as you arrive at your destination, nervously running his hand through his hair.
"Hmm."
"Please don't be mad," he placed his head against the steering wheel, mumbling to himself-- you couldn't quite hear all that he said. Though you caught something about being an idiot and always ruining everything.
"I'm not mad, and I'm sure my family will love you; who wouldn't?"
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
“Jade, this is Logan; Logan, this is my sister, Jade,” you introduce Logan and your sister, awkwardly motioning between them.
“Hi, it's nice to meet you,” Logan stretches out his hand for your sister to shake, but instead, he is pulled into a big hug.
“Nice to meet you too,” She pulls away from the hug, looking Logan up and down– smiling widely, “My god, sis, you didn’t tell me you were dating someone this good-looking.”
“Jade, don’t.”
“What? He’s hot,” she insists, looking him up and down-- causing you an overwhelming amount of embarrassment.
“God, I am so sorry,” you quickly say to Logan; you wished the earth would open up at that moment and swallow you whole. Your sister had the tendency to embarrass you, constantly bringing up your past cringe moments. Like the time you stuffed your bra in middle school, and she, for some reason, brought it up a few years later in front of your prom date. It wasn't that she did it with some malicious intent; she just happened to have no grasp on boundaries and social cues.
“No, no, it's fine,” he said with a slightly amused smile, clearly enjoying your embarrassment. He always got a kick out of seeing you embarrassed, and you knew this would be something he teased you about later.
“I haven’t seen you in so long; so much has changed since you’ve been gone,” she says, holding up her left hand to show off her ring with a wide smile.
“Yeah, I know.”
“The old barn was turned into a little studio, so that’s where you two will be staying,” She leads you to the old barn, unlocking it and giving you a small tour. “Mom and Dad will be home later, but honestly, they probably won't bother you. Especially Dad, he's in a mood, but I’m sure Mom will drop by to say hello,” she says, standing near the front door, smiling at you and Logan, “There’s only one bed, so I’m sure you two will have fun, if you know what I mean,” violently winking at you.
“Please ignore her; she's just trying to embarrass me– more than she already has,” you tell him, ushering your sister out of the studio. “Has she ever told you about that time in middle school when…” you quickly shut the door behind her before she can say anything and turn back to Logan, who is standing there with a small smile. You can't help but wonder why he's smiling or what he's smiling at. You can almost feel yourself smiling back– almost, but you stop yourself.
“Well I like your family so far.”
“You've only met my sister.”
“Yeah, but she’s fun,” he says, following you into the small kitchen, leaning against the door frame.
“Whatever, you say. I was thinking I'll take the couch and you take the bed.”
“No way, there is no way my fake girlfriend, but very real best friend, is sleeping on the couch,” he protests, pushing himself off of the door frame to stand besides you as you rummage through the refrigerator.
“Well, I won’t allow my guest to sleep on the couch.”
“We can share the bed, just put a pillow barrier between us.”
“Pillow barrier? What are we twelve?” you scoff, turning to look at Logan, eyebrows raised in exasperation.
“Right, so I’ll take the couch.”
“You are not sleeping on the couch, Logan!” voice raised as your frustration with the situation continues to grow.
“Alright, I’ll sleep on the floor if that's what you want,” he said, attempting to hold back a smile, voice dripping with sarcasm.
“You’re being difficult on purpose.”
“Then lets share the bed”
“Fine!” you finally give in, knowing that there was no winning against Logan and you'd much rather save your sanity.
“Okay, well, I’m going to shower; do you need to use the bathroom?”
“No, but I’ll make us lunch.”
“Alright, thank you,” he said, hesitating as if he wanted to say something else before walking out of the kitchen and towards the bathroom.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
“What are you doing?”
“Putting up the pillow barrier”
“I thought you said we weren’t twelve?” he asked with a teasing smile. You stared at him blankly, unsure if how to respond, watching as he lay on the left side of bed. “Come on, just lay down already,” he removed the pillow barrier, hugging one of the pillows as he patted the empty spot on the bed.
Hesitantly you laid on your spot, turning to look at him, “You’re so weird.”
Logan let out a chuckle, “Yeah, but you love me,” he whispered, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“Yeah,” you responded, closing your eyes– and you truly did mean it, you loved him.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
You expected the rehearsal dinner to make you uncomfortable, but you weren't fully prepared– hoping it would pass like a blur you wouldn’t remember. That, of course, had been foolish-- as you stood in front of the mirror looking at yourself, you couldn't help but feel the oncoming dread.
“What's wrong?” Logan asks, coming to stand beside you, carefully fixing his shirt in the reflection, “You look like you'll throw up at any moment.”
Your expression is blank, lips shut tight and unmoving despite having been asked a question. It felt as if you were unable to speak, afraid to open your mouth and vomit before having anything to eat or drink, “I just… I’m nervous,” you play with the hem of your dress, flattening the bottom of it and using it as an excuse to wipe away the clamminess of your hands.
“You look beautiful. I’m sure everything will go smoothly, and I’ll be by your side the whole time, I promise,” he whispers, wrapping his arms around you and resting his chin on the top of your head, placing a small kiss on your forehead.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
You stood at the edge of the rehearsal dinner event, Logan by your side, as you watched the people around you socialize. In the center of the backyard was a long table with plates and glasses. Family from both sides and close friends are scattered around the yard as your sister and her fiance make their way around the place, speaking to everyone.
“I’m glad you finally have someone in your life, little Jade,” your sister's fiance, Mark, commented as they approached you and Logan. “Jade told me all about you, and I’m not going to lie, I googled you,” he laughed, patting Logan on the back in a friendly manner as if they were old friends.
“Find anything interesting?” Logan asks with an intrigued smile on his face. You're relieved that he isn't absolutely weirded out about being googled.
“Just the usual, that you're from Florida– and that's just rubbing me the wrong way. I also read that you're a Dolphins fan, and I’m a Niners fan sooo...”
“I think we can put football behind us,” Logan laughs lightly; you can't help but admire his laugh. It's the type of laugh that brings a smile to your face and warms your heart.
“Oh, definitely; I think you and I will be great friends. We’re practically family now; you better not break my sister-in-law's heart. I’m watching you, carboy,” he warns, doing the ‘I’m watching you’ hand motion as he walks off with your sister.
“He seems nice,” Logan says with a small smile, subconsciously wrapping his arm around your shoulder, “Wait, did he call me carboy?” he asks, turning to look in the direction they had just left.
“Yeah he did, he’s something, but he definitely likes you,” You smile up at him— your smile growing wider as you notice your father approaching the both of you.
“Papa, this is–”
“I’m Logan, her boyfriend,” he interrupts you, stretching out his hand to shake your father's hand.
Your father looked Logan up and down, analyzing the way he dressed, what he said, and especially how he held himself. He ignores Logan's outstretched hand, brows furrowing as he turns to look at you with a stern look. Your smile falters as you watch Logan's hand fall back to his side, and your father walks away from your conversation.
“That went well,” Logan's voice was filled with sarcasm as he watched your father approach a young man your age, “Who is he talking to?”
“Hm?” you turn in the direction your father left in, body tensing as you see who he is currently conversing with. Micheal, your ex-boyfriend of three years– the guy your parents so desperately wanted you to get back together with. The guy you had thought you would marry and eventually have kids with. “That's THE ex-boyfriend.”
Logan scoffs, your father's sudden coldness making sense; he was the outsider causing the rift between you and the man your father wanted to see you with. You had hoped he would be accepting of Logan; he was usually a wholehearted person– the type to treat someone as if they had known each other their whole life. This was something you had always loved and admired about him, though the way he was acting today was the exact opposite of that.
“Don’t think too much into it; let's just focus on what we have to do. We can talk to other people; my mom loves you.”
“Yeah, but your dad is definitely still in love with your ex. What are you going to do when you bring a real boyfriend to meet your dad?”
“I haven’t thought of that… oh god, don’t turn,” your warning goes unheard as Logan turns to see your ex-boyfriend walking towards the both of you.
“So you're my replacement,” Michael rolled his eyes at Logan, face full of disgust, as if he was above Logan.
“Nice to meet you; I’m Logan,” Logan straightened his back, clearly attempting to show Michael that he was not intimidated by him.
“Where'd you find him anyway?” Michael asks you, refusing to acknowledge Logan, let alone look at him.
“That's really none of your business.”
He looked Logan up and down, as your father had, scoffing at Logan– as if he were better than Logan. You knew this was what he was thinking; he had always had a superiority complex during your relationship. Constantly reminding you that he would always be the best you could have. It was one of, if not the main reason you had decided to break up with him. However, he had charmed your family– your father, in particular, was in love with him.
“You don’t have to be such a bitch about it, baby,” Michael took a step forward, attempting to get closer to you.
“Don’t talk to my girlfriend like that,” Logan says, stepping between you and Michael with a stern look on his face.
“She doesn't love you; she was still texting me a few months ago. Did she tell you that?”
Logan turned to you, face showing slight betrayment– you were unsure of how to respond or what to do. You could slightly remember the text messages, mostly started by him, but you had still responded. Maybe it was out of boredom or sheer loneliness you had felt– or the complicated feelings you felt towards Logan.
“That doesn't give you the right to insult her,” Logan pushes Michael back with two fingers.
“Whatever, enjoy my leftovers– and know that her family will never accept you.” Michael walked away from the conversation, leaving a sour taste in your mouth. You didn’t want to be here anymore; you regretted dragging Logan into the situation. This would only ruin your opportunity to confess your feelings. Why would he ever want to date you knowing that your father had a weird attachment to your ex-boyfriend? Who would willingly put up with that; certainly not Logan.
“Why does your dad even like him? He’s a piece of shit.”
“I don’t know. He doesn’t act like that around my parents; I guess he has them fooled.”
Soon, you all found yourself seated around the long table; to your horrible luck, you had been seated across from Michael. You weren't sure what came over you when you grabbed Logan's hand; perhaps it was nervousness or the shaking feeling you felt-- his hand served as an anchor in your opinion. It was keeping you from losing your mind as Michael smirked at you from across the table.
"Are you okay?" Logan whispers, gently squeezing your hand-- attempting to reassure you and alleviate your many worries, leaning into you. When you don't respond, Logan takes it as his sign to continue talking to you, "I've got you, don't worry."
The sound of glass being tapped draws your attention to the foot of the long table, where your sister and her fiance stand. "I want to thank all of you for coming. It means so much to both Mark and I. To my parents, thank you for all the love and support you have shown during these past few days. To my sister, you have been the best sister anyone could ask for; I can only hope your wedding is next," Jade winks in Logan's direction, causing him to laugh, and your father glares at both your sister and Logan.
You smiled at Logan, and for a moment, you forgot it was all fake. It felt as if he was actually in love with you, as in love as you were. And as the night grew, so did your love for Logan. You were certain you were in love with him, and as delusional as it sounded, you hoped– longed for him to love you back.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
The wedding ceremony had gone smoothly, it had been perfect and everything you could have imagined for your sister. That had never worried you much, you knew no one would have dared to ruin the ceremony. What did, however, worry you was the reception. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for some idiot drunken relative to cause a scene as they often did. And as you downed your fifth drink you began to think that the idiot might be you.
“I've been looking everywhere for you,” Logan says, placing a hand on the small of your back. His sudden appearance snapping you out of your thoughts as he leaned against the section of the bar beside you.
“Been here since the party started.”
“Hm, how much have you had to drink?” he asks, a concerned look etched onto his perfect face… perfectly kissable face.
“Mm, not much. I could use a few more drinks” your words slurred and do little to convince Logan that you're not beyond your limit.
“Let's just get some water in your system, yeah?”
“Nooooo,” you whine like a petulant child.
He moves his hand that was resting on your back down to your hip, gently guiding you towards your assigned table. You protest and grumble the whole way there, secretly loving the way his hand feels against your hip– so strong and warm. Logan sits you down in one of the empty chairs, giving the other people at the table a weak smile.
“Drink up,” he says, gently placing a glass of water in your hand.
“I don’t wanna,” you whine, dropping your head to rest against the table.
“I’m not giving you a choice.”
“You should like my mom,” You can feel his eyes on you, and you can almost imagine the small smile on his face.
“Come on sweetheart, you gotta drink some water,” he says, voice softening, nudging your foot with his own.
“Don’t call me that,” you lift your head off the table to look at him, throat tightening at the term of endearment. The whole place was spinning, your vision blurring a bit, the words in your mind jumbling together, “Don’t– don’t call me that,’ you repeat.
“Why not? You’ve never minded the nickname.”
“‘Cause I’ll get used to it and I can’t get used to it.”
Logan started at you, confusion etching his face, and god if it didn't take every last bit of restraint in you to not lean over and kiss him. “What's that supposed to mean?” he asked in a whispered tone.
“I– I love you,” you drunkenly confess, eyes blown out wide– you were sure you looked insane.
“You’re drunk.”
"I love you and you don't love me–" you start, Logan’s hand coming to rest on your shoulder.
“Stop it. You can’t be saying things that you’ll regret in the morning.”
"You didn't deny not loving me," you say, voice dripping with embarrassment, tears beginning to sting at the corners of your eyes.
“I’m not having this conversation with you”
"God, I feel like such a fucking idiot– just leave me the fuck alone," you drop your head back down, choking on your words, a few tears slipping down your cheeks.
He hesitates for a moment as if debating what to do, he lets out a sigh, shoulders dropping, “We’ll talk about this tomorrow.”
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
You sat at the back of the property, swinging on one of two swings overlooking the open meadow. The past few days replaying in your mind: the fight with Logan, the rehearsal dinner, and the actual wedding. The wedding… everything had come undone, there was no more hiding your feelings or attempting to disguise them as a friendship.
“I was looking for you,” Logan said, sitting on the swing beside you, watching you closely.
“Look, I’m sorry about last night,” you whispered, your gaze set on the scenery in front of you in an attempt to avoid looking at him. He let out a sigh attempting to find the right words, worried he’d ruin everything.
“You remember what happened?”
“No, but apparently Jade found me crying and I confessed everything.” It had been embarrassing, having to admit to your sister that everything had been a lie and that you had an unrequited love for your best friend. She, being the greatest sister of all time, calmed you down and comforted you despite having made a fool of yourself at her wedding reception. “I’m not upset that you don’t love me like that. I totally understand and hope we can still be friends.” It wasn’t an exact lie, you did want to be friends, even if it would pain you– but you’d eventually get over him, right?
“No.”
“No? As in we can’t be friends? Because that's fine too, I understand that I made things awkward,” you rambled, just wanting this whole to be over with, nervously picking at the lint of your old sweater that you now realized had once belonged to Logan.
“God, you really are an idiot.”
Your head snapped to look at him, confusion written all over your face, your mind reeled at his comment. Your mouth opened slightly in preparation to respond, but you were unable to find the words. What did he even mean by that?
“I love you too, dumbass, so damn much,” he let out a small nervous chuckle, smiling at you, reaching to grab your hand.
“You do?”
“Yes, I can’t imagine a life where I see you with someone else and I feel comfortable with that.” You searched his face for any hint of insincerity, any hint that this may be some sort of cruel joke. But you knew Logan, and you knew that he would never do something so twisted. “I want to kiss you; can I kiss you?” he asked softly, hesitantly reaching out to cup your cheek.
You nod, closing your eyes and leaning into him, letting out a shaky breath as your lips meet. Suddenly you were unusually aware of the clamminess of your hands and the pounding of your heart. His lips were warm, a deep contrast to the cold morning air that had been biting at you earlier. Logan's hand moved to tangle itself into your hair, pulling you closer, almost as if he was scared you'd disappear– as if you were part of a dream and he'd wake up any moment. You suppose that's why the kiss had suddenly felt rough and sloppy as he ran his tongue against your lower lip.
He pulled away, resting his forehead against your own, smiling at you, “So you’ll let me take you out on a real date?”

Frat!Rafe Cameron x sporty! fem reader!
As Kiara’s older sister, gifted athlete and now college student, you never had time for dating. Or time to acknowledge your secret crush on Rafe Cameron. But when your eighteen year old little sister visits, she pushes you to attend one of his parties.

Getting a visit from your parents and little sister motivated you for the performance as you accepted flowers and praise after the competition. Your mother and father finally allowed Kiara to stay the weekend with you on campus, you managed to convince them that your eighteen year old baby sister would be completely safe with you.
You knew they were mostly attempting to keep her away from Pogues back home but with your down to earth nature she felt comfortable to get along with you.
“I don’t know why you’re wasting your time studying something else. Why don’t you go to a fancy art school or some shit? Follow your dreams!” Kiara flopped on your bed in your dorm and you sighed.
“Because. Sports aren’t a long lasting career choice for me. Besides, if you want to live with me, I need to have a good paying job, right?” You countered as you sipped a protein shake.
“You need to stop thinking about everyone else. Think of yourself. You don’t have a life. All you do is study, work and compete. You’ve got to be so bored.” She argues, folding her arms.
“I’m not bored, Kiara. I stay busy and I’m fine with that. And I do have a life! I have a few friends and I have you.” You mumble and she lifts herself up, walking over to you and lightly elbows you.
“You know how much I hate them, they’re a waste of money that could be used for donations but what about parties? Have you gone to any?” Rolling your eyes, you groan at her lecture.
You knew she was jealous of your freedom, considering her relationship with your parents and her full time job. But she also didn’t understand you. The pressure you’d always been under. At a young age, you were in gymnastics. Building your body like a machine while you spent everyday challenging yourself to meet your next goal. And you were good at it.
Your wall was covered in medals, your shelf had a few trophies and photographs of your proud moments.
Dancing was a natural evolution for you. Something you’d discovered when one of your gymnast friends opened their own studio after graduating high school a few years ago. The fluidity of movement, the tempo of the beat and music brought you to life. You were strong, frequently at the gym to keep up with having to flip yourself around in the air with your part time job that was physically demanding.
Your life was fast paced, a competitive streak in your blood motivated you to remain disciplined and focused. Your guilt for being so busy was one of the reasons you wanted Kiara to stay with you this weekend. But she did have a point.
You didn’t have time for dating. You’d never had a boyfriend, guys in the past weren’t exactly pleased that you could fairly put up a physical fight given your athletic lifestyle and razor sharp drive. Men found you…boring. You had an obsession with Halloween and darker things too. It was a nice change from the neon uniforms you were forced to wear.
Her question about parties reminded you of a instagram post you were tagged in yesterday and Kiara must have sensed your train of thought. “Don’t tell me you were invited to one and you’re not gonna go?”
“I’ve been too busy! Plus I wanted to hang out with you-“
“It’s tonight?” She shrieked and started shoving you to your bedroom. “What the hell are we doing? You need to get ready.”
“Kiara, I’m not going to some stupid party. I’m tired from dancing earlier and besides Rafe Cameron isn’t going to notice one person who doesn’t show up.”
“I fucking knew it. You’ve been crushing on that asshole for years. That’s why you were so happy you got into this school.” She accused and you defensively shook your head.
“No I haven’t-“
“Me and Sarah knew you liked him when you shoved him in the pool years ago when he was messing with us when you were life guarding. And that’s why you always offered to babysit during high school. You just wanted to be near him.” Kiara made your jaw drop and you turned away.
“That’s not true! He’s a dick! Why would I like someone like Rafe? That’s why I’m ignoring his invitation.” She extended her hand.
“Let me see the post.” You grumbled something about how your little sister was the one bossing you around and you slapped your phone in her palm.
She read the invite with her mouth parted. “It’s a fucking Halloween themed party? You can dress up and you’re not going? He’s obviously obsessed with you.” You yank your phone back.
“What are you talking about? He’s not!”
“He was there tonight. I saw him watching you dance in the crowd.” You gasped and you felt your cheeks burn. “And now, he’s doing something knowing you like it. Get out of those damn sweatpants and put on something cute. You’re going to that party.”
“No I’m not! I don’t like Rafe Cameron and listen here you little goblin,” Kiara ignored you as she dug through your drawers for another set of clothes.
She tossed you an oversized shirt with skulls on it, knee socks and your converse. “Here. This is good.”
“Why do you want me to go so badly? You hate Rafe!” You complained and she waved her hands.
“Yeah I do. But I want you to have fun. Let loose for one night. Show off what you worked for and finally put yourself first.” You raised an eyebrow.
“You really wanna talk to someone don’t you and you don’t want me hovering?” She was finally silent for a few seconds and you smirked triumphantly. “Fine. I’ll go to this damn party.” You walked away, preparing to change clothes but you gave her a light smack upside the head.
“Ow! The hell was that for?” She whined.
“For telling me what to do.”
You felt your heart in your throat as you knocked on the door of the house where the party was held. You could hear the sound of music and chatter from behind the door as you shifted your weight from leg to leg.
Your face was covered in makeup and your jewelry dangled from your neck as you waited. The entrance opened and Topper ushered you in. “Hey! Look who it is! The girl of the hour!” His arm slung around your shoulders and the bustling crowd cheered. You awkwardly smiled and waved. Girl of the hour?
“Cmon. Rafe is upstairs.” Just the mention of the males name made you swallow thickly and you followed him. A lot of people were wearing costumes, fake blood and merchandise from scary movies.
You recognized Rafe because of his clothing and body but his face was covered. He was wearing a Ghostface mask. Plain black shirt and jeans. Your eyes widened briefly when he turned, noticing you before you smoothed back your nerves and approached him. He met you half way and looked down at you, mask tilted.
“You did show up after all, princess.”
You give him a smile. “Yeah I did. I heard you were at the dance. Did you like what you saw?” You didn’t know where this confidence was coming from but he seemed to be enjoying it. Rafe stepped a little closer, “Oh I loved it, baby. That’s why I told everyone to dress up. Gotta celebrate my little champion, huh?”
“Champion?” You parrot and he chuckles.
“Of course, Angel. You think I’m stupid or something? I’ve been a big fan of yours for a while. I couldn’t wait to get you here so I could have you all to myself.” He trails off quietly and you feel his big hands settle on your hips, squeezing lightly.
“Well, we’re not alone,” You respond and he tugs you against him, as much as you love the mask, you wanna rip it off.
“Easy fix, baby girl. C‘mon.” Instead of walking, Rafe lifted you off the ground and you squeaked. Throwing you over his shoulder, he walked through a hallway before opening a door.
Rafe easily tossed you onto the bed, the plush covers and pillows bounced. You shakily sat up as he tore off the mask and looked down at you with a dark smolder.
“Oh, princess. You have no fuckin idea how long I’ve wanted you in my bed.” He leaned down and put both hands on either side of you as you looked up at him, doe eyes staring into his.
“Why didn’t you ever say anything? Why would you like me? I’ve never told you-“
“Like you? Baby, I don’t just like you. I think about you all the time. No one else has made me feel like this. You’ve always stood up to me and didn’t put up with my shit. You think it’s a coincidence that I liked to push your buttons when we were kids?”
You’re breathless as he tugs on the end of your shirt with a smirk.
“I like a girl who pushes back. You’re my strong girl, hmm? But not tonight. You’re not in control for once. I am.” He grips your waist, your bare skin from your top pulled up and your core pulses.
You reach up, lightly smacking him in the face. “You think you can earn my submission?” Rafe gives you a chuckle and flash of excitement crosses his eyes.
“Princess, by the time I’m done with you, you’re gonna be my little fuck toy. You just wanna push my buttons so I throw you around.” His words turned you on more and you shudder as goosebumps rise on your skin. “Slap me again. Get a good one in too.”
“You serious?” You whisper and he nods.
“What? You too scared?”
You slap him. Hard. Hard enough that his face turns but Rafe doesn’t look angry. “That was a good one, baby. But I’m gonna make you forget any other fucker. I’m sure all those other dudes are all over you at the studio or some shit.” He grunts and tugs off your shirt. Exposing your torso and bra.
You have the urge to cover yourself but you resist. “I don’t have time for dating.”
Rafe pauses and raises an eyebrow. “You’re telling me you haven’t dated? You a virgin?”
You bristle. “No but…it’s only happened once.”
Rafe cups underneath your arms and manhandles you higher on the bed. You don’t have time to breathe before you find yourself pinned with your arms above your head, his face inches above yours. “Bet you’re soaked right now. Underneath those panties you wear.”
He reaches in between your legs and cups your cunt. “God damn, princess. This what you needed? Me to take care of you? Shut off that overthinking head of yours?” He muses and you cup his face bringing him down to fuse your lips together in a messy kiss.
He moans against your mouth and shoves his tongue inside, you separate your legs and tug him closer.
“Gonna taste more than your mouth, baby girl.” He promises and kisses down your body, peeling off your underwear.
“I’m gonna worship this perfect pussy. I’m gonna take such good care of my girl,” He mutters against your pelvis. Rafe shoves your thighs apart and buried his head in, making you groan and dig your fingers onto the sheets.
His tongue laps hungrily at your clit, sucking in all your wetness as he moans and grinds on the bed. You whimper as he fucks you with his mouth.
“You like that, babydoll?”
“Mhm! I’m gonna cum,” You stammer and he lifts up, his massive body flexing as he rips off his shirt. Exposing his fit body.
“You’re gonna cream on my dick, then you’re gonna clean it up. Are you going to be a good little whore?” He breathes and you whine.
“Mhm, yes. Please, fuck me. I need it so badly. I want you to fill me up,” You beg and he shoves off his pants. His big, thick dick slapping against his thigh.
“How can I say no to such a pretty girl?” He gives your bare ass a slap before he pumps himself a couple of times, his cock in his fist before he presses into you.
You mewl and bury your head in his neck. He growls and thrusts, hard enough that you almost feel like you’re gonna burst from how big he is. But he quickly adds his fingers to rub your clit.
“This fuckin pussy is mine. It’s so tight, splitting you in two, baby girl. Gonna breed this perfect cunt.” He huffs and your eyes squeeze shut as your peak rises.
“That’s it, princess. Cream on my dick.” He praises and your climax overwhelms you.
You cry out and sink your teeth into his naked shoulder and he moans. He moves harder, bringing slight pain but it only adds to your pleasure. He spills in you, “Gonna stuff you so full of cum you’re gonna be a brainless little doll.”
Rafe pulls out, pumping himself again as cum drips onto the bed. “Give me that pretty mouth, princess. I wanna see your eyes roll back. You can fuckin take it. Like a little champion.”

You weren’t sure why he was mad at you, but it seemed to radiate in the space between you. It was obvious in the tension in his shoulders, the way his eyes wouldn’t meet yours, the way his jaw clenched when he heard someone mention your name. It was midsummers tonight, and he’d invited you as his date - making you one of the only Pogues here. The two of you had been dating for a little under a year, and your anniversary was coming up in a few weeks. He’d hated you at first, he just knew you as John B’s sister, a Pogue through and through, and that was enough in itself for him to have a bad opinion of you. But, a year ago, you’d both got drunk at one of the parties on the beach, and he’d argued with you over which can of beer was his, and then you’d woken up the following morning next to him on the beach. Though, when you’d gone to leave, he’d asked you to stay. And that seemed to be the basis of the start of your relationship - Rafe asking you to stay. And you’d agreed.
“Hey (Y/N),” It’s Sarah that walks over to you, looking seemingly fed up of the Kook atmosphere already.
“Hey,” You try to smile back, pulling your eyes away from Rafe.
“Everything okay?” She frowns, standing beside you at the bar.
“Your brother,” You roll your eyes, resting your chin on your hands in front of you.
“When isn’t he the problem?” She laughs, “What’s he done this time?”
“I don’t think he’s done anything, I think he’s mad at me but I don’t know what I’ve done,” You shake your head, “He won’t even look at me.”
Before you can say anything else, JJ and Kie come over to the two of you, JJ dressed in his full server outfit - convincing everyone but you guys that he might actually work here. You’d been friends with JJ since he’d met John B and you spent basically all of your life with him.
“Please tell me this will be over soon,” Kie groans, shifting the material of her silk dress over her torso, “I hate this.”
You were wearing a dark green dress that Rafe had picked out of the three options you found in Sarah’s closet of unworn clothes. It hugged your figure and sat perfectly around your chest, flowing down in silk over your shoes.
“I don’t recognise you when you look like this (Y/N),” JJ points out, taking your drink and finishing the rest of it, “Very… kook.”
You roll your eyes and hit at his chest, “Grow up JJ, I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen you in proper clothes ever.”
He grabs your hand when you push him and pulls you in as if he’s about to twist your arm. But an all too familiar voice cuts between you.
“Hey, waiter,” Rafe shouts, “My drink’s looking close to empty, get me another.”
JJ drops your arm and looks at Rafe with a clenched jaw, “Get it yourself.”
“I don’t think you want to talk like that to me here,” Rafe lets out a laugh, the kind that comes from deep in his chest, “These are my people, not yours.”
“Rafe stop it,” You sigh, trying to step between him and JJ before this escalates further.
“So why don’t you get the fuck out of here, and leave my people, and my girlfriend, alone?” Rafe’s words are cold, calculated, separate from so much of what you knew of your boyfriend.
You push JJ back and stand between the two of them, turning your body to look directly at Rafe, but his eyeline falls above you and looks over at JJ still, “Rafe, leave it out.”
He doesn’t look at you, walking away with that tension in his shoulders that didn’t seem to leave.
“For fuck’s sake,” You mutter under your breath, “I’m sorry JJ.”
He laughs, dragging a hand through his hair, “Come on (Y/N) we all know you’re the only Pogue he doesn’t hate, that’s not going to change.”
You take a deep breath and look towards the direction that Rafe had just stormed out to, “I’ve got to go, I’ll see you guys later, okay?”
“Let us know if you need anything (Y/N),” Sarah calls out from behind you, the only one of any of them that was somewhat close to being able to understand Rafe.
~~~
You know he’s back at the house, and you’re thankful he’s thought enough to not lock the door behind him. It’s dark in the mansion and it’s eerie when you’re alone like this. You follow the steps upstairs towards his room, relieved when you catch the sight of the light on.
“Rafe?”
“Get out (Y/N), go back to the party,” His voice is cold, harsh.
“Rafe what the fuck have I done?”
“Nothing, just go back.”
He still won’t look at you.
“Nothing? You won’t talk to me, won’t touch me, won’t look at me, you haven’t since we got to that fucking party. You asked me to go and then spend the whole night ignoring me? What the fuck is this?” You’re raising your voice without thinking about it, the anger fuelling the fire in your veins.
“Just leave it (Y/N), I’m fine,” He tugs off the tie from around his neck, “I’ll talk to you later.”
“So that’s what this is now? We don’t even fight it out?” You scoff, “I’m not doing this with you Rafe. I’m not having you make me feel like shit all night, ignore me completely, embarrass me in front of my friends, and then tell me you’ll ‘talk to me later’.”
You try to stop your lips from wobbling, stop your hands from trembling, stop your burning desire to fall into his arms.
“(Y/N), don’t act like you don’t see how people look at you,” He shakes his head.
“No, fuck you, Rafe,” You shake your head, letting the tears bubble in your eyes, “You want to talk about people looking at me? Maybe people were looking at me because you were ignoring me all night!”
“You fucking love it, it’s like all eyes on you, and you don’t do anything to stop it!”
“Are you kidding me? Are you taking the fucking piss Rafe?” You’re fully yelling now, “Who do you think you are? No, who do you think I am?”
He’s quiet.
“I’m not dealing with this,” There are tears spilling over your cheeks now, staining them with the running of your mascara, “If you think I love other people looking at me so much, maybe I should go to one of them, because they certainly wouldn’t spend an entire night ignoring me.”
“(Y/N)!” He calls, watching as you turn on your heel to walk back out of the house.
As you’re just reaching the front door, his scream rips through the house, enough to make you flinch. Your heart is forcing you to go back, but you defy it, closing the front door behind you and walking back out into the dark.
~~~
You’re not sure how long you’ve been down by the beach, listening to the repetitions of waves over the sand, the hum of Midsummers still going on behind you, the silence that always remains after a fight.
In all of the arguments you’d had, it never ended with you storming out. You’d argue, and yell, and disagree, until eventually you didn’t. You would meet in the middle, admitting when you were wrong, and explaining when you knew you were right. But it worked both ways and, that was the thing, it always worked. You’d be mad at each other until he told you he loved you and you told him you’d love him tomorrow, he’d laugh and know that you meant it, that you’d always forgive him.
Today felt different. Rafe felt like he was arguing with himself whilst he was arguing with you, and you weren’t going to listen to him accuse you of things he knew you’d never do.
You pull your knees up to your chest and wrap your arms around yourself as the chill starts to pick up a little over the beach, sending a shiver through your skin.
That’s when you hear him, stumbling steps over the sand until eventually they stop beside you.
“Can I sit?”
You take a deep breath and nod, still looking out over the water to avoid falling into the gaze of his eyes. Rafe takes a seat in the space beside you, so close that his arm brushes yours. Without a second thought, he pulls the suit jacket from around him and wraps it over your shoulders, his hands lingering there for a moment. You instinctively pull the material around you, breathing in the scent of his his aftershave that clung to the lapels.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N),” He sighs, and you’re sure you can hear a tremble in his voice, “I didn’t mean what I said back there. I’m not saying I didn’t think it, but I shouldn’t have said it the way I did.”
“Why did you think that though, Rafe?” You shake your head, still not looking at him directly.
“It’s not because of you. It’s everyone else. I see the way they look at you, it’s like as soon as you’re there, they all look at you like prey,” He clenches his jaw, “And I hate it, and then I see them and I think why isn’t it them that you’re with.”
“Is that why you started on JJ?”
“I shouldn’t have done that, I know,” He nods, “I’ll apologise to him.”
You can’t help but laugh, “No you won’t.”
He laughs too, and for a moment that’s all there is.
“I don’t want to lose this (Y/N), but the more I think of that, the more I convince myself that I am going to lose it, and that terrifies me,” He drags a hand through his hair, “I get if you’re still mad at me, I’ll walk you home if you don’t want to stay.”
You take in a deep breath and exhale, moving your head to rest on his shoulder, “The problem is, Rafe, I’m the only one that can put up with you.”
As if he is worried you’ll slip away, he wraps an arm around your waist and grips you tightly, his head turning to breath in the scent of your hair, “I love you, (Y/N).”
You hum in response, nuzzling your head into his neck more, “I’ll love you in the morning.”
He kisses the top of your hair, once, twice, three times, letting his lips linger on the third, “Do you want to go back to mine?”
“No.”
You can feel the panic coarse through him, like he’s worried this time is still different than the rest, that he’d be going to bed alone thinking of everything he shouldn’t have said.
“I want to stay here,” You mumble, snuggling into the warmth he seemed to radiate, reaching your arms around him.
Rafe laughs and it rumbles through his chest against you, pulling you as close to him as he can get you to be.
~~~
The following morning, you wake up to the sun. Rafe’s jacket is still draped over you, your head resting on the rise and fall of his chest. Your legs are tangled in his, and his arms are gripping you tighter than ever, his eyes still shut.
You reach up and press a kiss to his jaw, the closest to his lips that you can reach from this angle. He looks so peaceful when he sleeps, so innocent compared to what everyone else thought they knew of Rafe - because nobody else got to see him like this, like you did.
He hums against your touch, his body waking up before his eyes have the strength to open. When he can just about muster the strength, he pokes one eye open to look at you, stretching one arm away from you and tucking it under his head, “Do you love me now?”
You laugh, kissing his jaw three more times, “I do.”
ⴵ My Best Friend’s Little Sister | Yelena Belova ⴵ
Pairing: Yelena Belova x reader
Warnings: steamy scene (no smut), blood, major injuries and ANGST
Summary: Telling your best friend Natasha about your relationship with her sister doesn’t go as planned.
Part 2
________________________________________________
I wipe my mouth with the back of my hand and place one last kiss to the inside of Yelena’s thigh before moving up her twitching body.
She’s panting and flushed in the best way possible and when I come into view above her, her hand finds its way to the back of my neck and pulls me into a kiss.
Her other hand roams over my shoulder and chest, continuing down across my ribs until it settles on the small of my back.
“My God,” she mumbles against my lips, “You are amazing.”
I chuckle and pull back to look at her. “You always say that.”
Yelena’s smile mirrors my own, her eyes sparkling with adoration. “Because it’s true.”
I brush some hair off her sweaty forehead, enjoying the way she brushes her fingers over my lower back. “So are you,” I say quietly, vulnerability seeking into my voice. “You’re amazing.”
She’s not just amazing, she’s absolutely breathtaking. Since we started dating over a year ago she’s had this overwhelming grip on my heart. To say I didn’t love her would be a straight up lie, but we haven’t said that to each other yet and I’m waiting for her to say it first.
Her past has made her wary of anyone and everything, so I’m giving her the choice of whether or not she wants to take what we have to the next level.
So, for now, all I can do is repeat her sentiments back to her and hope that she somehow knows what I actually want to say.
Her green eyes dart between mine, tender and affectionate as always, but now there’s something new in them. For just a second her lips part and I think she might say something but then she just smiles again.
The tiniest bit of disappointment spreads in the pit of my stomach, but I ignore it when I remember why I snuck into her room in the first place.
I peck her lips, one, two, three times, making her giggle and settle down next to her. She turns and lays her head on my chest, her leg curling over my hips.
“Listen, I’ve been thinking and—“ I shift awkwardly as I run my fingers through her hair “— I know we talked about this before, but I really think Nat should know about us.”
Yelena stiffens but stays quiet, so I continue.
“She’s my best friend and I just— I hate keeping things from her, especially when they make me happy.“ I take the hand she’s rested on my stomach and press a kiss to her knuckles. “You make me happy, Yelena. So fucking much, and I’m tired of hiding that.”
How we’ve managed to keep our relationship a secret from Natasha all this time is still a mystery to me, but since the very start of it, the guilt of it has been eating away at me.
I wanted to tell her from day one, but Yelena insisted we keep it between the two of us. Why? I’m not entirely sure, but I respect her wishes. Since it’s been over a year since then though, I think it’s time to come clean.
“Yelena?” I nudge her, waiting nervously for a response.
Yelena sighs and sits up. She grabs the sheet and pulls it up to cover herself. “Y/N…”
I know she’s about to shut me down, but this is important to me, so I say, “Please, baby. She’s my best friend and your sister. Why don’t you want her to know?” I sit up as well and place my hand on her knee over the sheet.
“She’ll hate me for stealing you,” she whisperers after a moment of silence.
“Yelena…” I squeeze her hand and dip my head to catch her eye. “Nat could never hate you. Besides, I think she’d kick my ass long before ever thinking of kicking yours, I mean, I’m her best friend and I’m sleeping with her little sister. That’s like the biggest no-no in a friendship; Never go for the younger sibling.”
Yelena cracks the tiniest of smiles and takes my hand off her knee and interlaces her fingers with mine. “You’re not just sleeping with me though,” she argues lightly.
“No I’m not. We’re dating which is even more reason to tell her. Don’t you think she’d be happy for you? For us?” I counter argue, scooting closer so our legs are touching.
Shaking her head, Yelena sighs softly. “No, of course she’d be happy, but—It’s not just that.”
My eyebrows furrow and I tilt my head in question. “Then what is it?” I probe gently.
Green eyes find mine and I’m surprised to find something akin to shame in them.
“Hey, what is it?” I whisper, scooting even closer so I can press a kiss to her forehead.
Yelena drops the sheet and snakes her free hand to the back of my neck where she plays with my baby hairs, here eyes dropping as she admits, “It’s silly, but…this is the first thing I’ve ever had that is truly my own. Something I haven’t had to share with her. I just— I don’t want to lose that.”
I pout at her words and squeeze her hand. “Baby, hey… Please, look at me.”
Hesitantly, she raises her eyes again and I try my best to look reassuring when I say, “I get that. Trust me, I do. But you aren’t going to lose this–” I gesture between us with my free hand–“if we tell her. You aren’t going to lose me.”
Yelena bites her bottom lip and blinks rapidly to get rid of the tears that have appeared in her eyes. “Okay,” she says finally, nodding. She opens her eyes and smiles weakly. “Okay, let’s tell her.”
I beam and surge forward to press a kiss to her lips. It’s so fast that Yelena yelps in surprise before kissing back. Our intertwined hands disconnect and her free hand joins her other hand at the back of my neck.
We kiss feverishly, her tongue running over my bottom lip until I grant her access, and I use my super soldier-strength (I have Hydra to thank for that) to pick her up and get out of bed.
On instinct, her legs wrap around my waist and her grip on my neck tightens.
“Let’s—“ Kiss. “Tell her—“ Kiss. “After the mission—“ Another kiss. “Tomorrow.”
Yelena hums and I take that as a yes, so I start carrying her to the bathroom. “Shower?” I ask against her lips and, again, she just nods.
I laugh lightly and resume the kiss, barely even making it to the shower as Yelena’s lips start traveling down my neck.
Ducking behind a wall, I reload my gun and catch my breath. The deafening sound of gunfire surrounding us is making my hands shake and it takes me three times to insert the new magazine into the gun.
My mind is on the mission: secure the warehouse, grab the hostages, and get out.
The same can’t be said for Natasha, who’s crouching beside me. She raises a hand to the collar of my suit and tugs it down, letting out a disbelieving laugh. “Well, well, well. Look what we’ve go here.”
My head snaps around and I slap her hand away. “What?”
Natasha laughs, obviously not phased by the ongoing fight. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Incredulous and confused as to what she’s referring to I raise an eyebrow. “Tell you what?”
Poking my neck with her finger, which I slap away once more, Natasha states, “You’re seeing someone!”
Judging by the blank look on my face, Natasha figures that I still don’t know what she’s talking about. She rolls her eyes and points at her own neck. “You’ve got a hickey and because I know you’re not one to hook up, you must be seeing someone.”
My cheeks heat up instantly and I choke in surprise. “I— What? No!”
Damn it, Yelena.
We agreed on no hickeys in visible places. Looks like she got a bit too carried away last night.
“Yes you do!” Natasha exclaims, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Who is it? Oh, don’t tell me it’s Bucky. I thought you said you didn’t like him?”
“What—No! It’s not Bucky!” I screech, bewildered. “Why would you even— You know what? Never mind, let’s just focus on the mission.”
Natasha whines. “Nooo, come on. Tell me!”
I look around the wall to make sure the coast is clear, before turning back and hissing, “Not now!”
“Fine,” Natasha shoots back. “But you have to tell me later.”
I sigh and roll my eyes. “Yeah, whatever. Now let’s go. You take the ground floor. I’ll take the stairwell.“
Natasha smirks and wiggles her eyebrows suggestively. I fight the urge to shove her and get going, entering the warehouse with a deathly grip on the handle of my gun.
The warehouse is run down and the smell of damp concrete and moss is almost overwhelming. Every window has been busted and the bricks of the walls are beginning to chip.
I continue up the stairs with my gun raised, ready to shoot, until I make it to the top level. There’s no one in sight, so I press a finger to the comms piece in my ear and ask, “Any sign of the hostages, Steve?”
“Negative.”
I huff in frustration, trying to ignore the gunfire that is still going on outside and downstairs.
I make my way past some abandoned offices and turn a couple of corners before getting to the spider web of metal walkways that stretches over the largest, main storage room.
I set a tentative foot onto one of the metal grates and put pressure on it. It creaks ominously and I retract my foot, knowing it’s not safe to walk on.
I’m about to turn around when there’s a grunt and then a thud to my left.
I spin around just in time to see Yelena and one of the Hydra agents crash through a metal door and stumble onto the walkway.
The metal groans under the load and my eyes widen. It could give out any moment and I can’t imagine watching Yelena fall to her death.
I want to shout and tell her to get off the walkway, but that would distract her and give the Hydra agent a chance to beat her.
I raise my gun and aim at the dark figure who’s driving Yelena backward and further onto the walkway with the force of his blows. It’s of no use though because I can’t get a clear shot with all the movement and I can’t risk hitting Yelena.
It seems as though she’s got everything under control though because after taking a few more hits she recovers and retaliates with such a strong kick, it knocks the Hydra agent off his feet. But then a second one bursts through a door to my right, his eyes landing on Yelena’s back.
He doesn’t see me and raises his gun in a flash. I want to scream, but he’s already pulled the trigger. My eyes squeeze shut in horror, but nothing happens.
When I dare to look again, the agent is examining his gun. He tries to fire again, but it’s quickly apparent he doesn’t have any bullets left, so he tosses the gun aside.
I raise my own gun again and aim it at him. Before I can do anything though, he pulls a knife from one of his pockets and takes off in a sprint across the walkway.
My stomach drops and without thinking I leap onto the walkway myself. “Yelena!”
She’s too busy with the other agent who’s managed to get back on his feet, so I focus on the second agent.
He still hasn’t noticed me, so I push myself harder. I have to get to him before he gets to Yelena. My ears are ringing and my feet are pounding on the creaking metal, but I keep pushing.
“Yelena, look out!” I try one more time and this time she turns around, her eyes widening.
The second agent is only a couple of steps away from her and raises his arm, ready to bring the knife down on her.
He never gets the chance though because with a final push I leap forward and tackle him. We fall and hit the metal grate with an ear splitting crack.
Then, the falling doesn’t stop.
“Y/N!” The cry is heartbreaking and I close my eyes at the look of pure horror and disbelief on Yelena’s face.
My stomach swoops like it does on a rollercoaster, and for a moment it feels like I’m flying.
But what is it they say? L’important, ce n’est pas la chute; c’est l’atterrissage.
I hit the ground hard. For a moment, everything seems to be fine. Then, it hits me like a train. Everything hurts. I can’t move and every breath burns in my lungs.
No normal human could have survived a fall from such a height. Good thing I have the super-soldier serum in me.
I try to move and get up. I have to find Yelena. I have to make sure she’s safe. As soon as I even just try to move my leg though, a blinding pain shoots through my body.
I whimper, not being strong enough to do much more, and glance down.
My heart sinks at the sight of a broken metal pole sticking out of my thigh. It’s rusty and now covered in blood.
What makes matters even worse is that it’s not the only one. There’s another going right through my stomach, and another one through my chest, close to my shoulder.
The sight is dizzying and I close my eyes for a moment. I’m still fighting to get enough air into my lungs, but it’s getting harder with each breath.
This can’t be it. This can’t be how it ends.
I’ve been in similar situations. None of them were this bad though. I can feel my body trying to heal itself, but I know not even the serum will be able to get me out of this one.
A tear rolls down the side of my face and I cough again as blood begins to trickle out of the side of my mouth.
This was supposed to be an easy mission. I can’t believe everything went so wrong. I just know that I’d do all of it again if it meant Yelena was safe.
At the thought of Yelena, my eyes snap open again. Everything is blurry, but I can make out that she’s no longer on the walkways.
Panicking, I try one more time to get up, but the pain that shoots through me almost instantly is so intense, I scream and fall back down.
No… I can’t leave before telling her I love her. She has to know. I should have told her. I can’t believe I haven’t told her.
Movement to my left makes me panic even more because I figure it’s one of the Hydra agents who’s come to finish me.
I feel around for my gun, but all I can get a hand on is a loose pole. It’ll just have to do because I sure as hell won’t be going out without a fight.
When the person finally comes into sight though, I cry in relief and drop the pole.
She lowers her own weapon when she recognizes me and rushes over, her hands settling on my chest and stomach close to the poles. “Oh my God, Y/N.”
I choke back my tears and take one of her hands. “I’m sorry,” I whisper desperately. “I’m so sorry, Nat.”
Natasha’s watery eyes connect with mine and she shakes her head adamantly. “No, no, no. Hey! Don’t you dare give up on me.” She raises a hand to her ear and says, “Tony, we need an EVAC immediately. Y/N’s down in the main storage area.”
I don’t hear Tony’s response because my comms device broke when I landed. The look on Natasha’s face is all I need to know that he won’t be able to get here on time though.
She desperately clutches my hand to her chest and scoots closer, wiping the blood off my chin. “We’re going to get you out of here,” she says and I know she’s saying it to soothe herself, not me.
“Nat,” I wheeze. It’s almost impossible to breathe now and all I want to do is close my eyes, but she needs so know. “Please—“
A violent cough cuts me off and I wince when I settle back down and see tiny specks of blood on Natasha’s face.
“No, don’t talk. You have to save your strength. You have to—“
I shake my head frantically and ignore the tears that continue to spill from my eyes. “Please, Nat… Tell her—“
Another cough and this time when I settle back down, it’s as though my body finally stopped fighting. The pain has been reduced to a dull ache and my eyelids are growing heavier with each second that passes.
Natasha notices too and pushes down on my stomach next to the pipe to stop the bleeding. “No, no, no! You’re staying right here with me. Don’t you dare close your eyes. You hear me?!”
I honestly don’t care about making it out alive anymore because at this point I know it’s impossible. I do need Yelena to know how I truly feel about her though, so I resist the urge to close my eyes and tighten my weakening grip on Natasha’s hand. “Tell, Y-Yelena,” I stutter. “Promise m-me you’ll tell her…”
Natasha frowns in confusion and abandons her task of stopping the bleeding. “Tell Yelena what?” she asks desperately.
Her eyes meet mine and for a moment the confusion remains in them. Then, as if on cue, they widen and understanding dawns on her. “Yelena?” she asks with a sob and I nod with a weak smile.
“Please, Nat…” I whisper. It’s barely audible, but Nat hears.
New tears spring to her eyes and she bites her lip to suppress another sob. “What do you want me to tell her?”
My lips part, ready to spill the truth about my feelings, but in the end nothing comes out.
“What do you want me to tell her?” Natasha repeats, shaking me.
I want to reply, I just can’t do it.
There’s no more air left in my lungs and my eyelids are starting to droop. It’s peaceful and I barely register my hand going limp in Natasha’s.
“No, come on, Y/N!” she screams, but it’s muffled and in the end I no longer resist the urge to close my eyes. “No…” Nat sobs but it sounds like she’s miles away.
Then another voice calls my name and the familiarity of it makes me smile.
I love you…
hiii!! would u be able to write something for remus where ur in a secret relationship and he’s your brothers best friend? maybe sirius or james sister? ty!!
here ya go, love🖤
.
The problem with being related to James Potter was that he was incredibly protective.
He had good intentions and you knew he truly meant well, that he just cared for you and saw it as his duty as an older brother to look out for you. But Merlin, that boy would push his limits sometimes.
That was why you decided to keep your shift in relationship a secret from him at first. You didn’t need James moseying into something that wasn’t his business so early on in the relationship.
But weeks passed and the thrill of sneaking around was still at a high—and yeah, there was just something really fucking hot knowing you were fucking one of your brother’s best friends and he had no clue.
Ironically enough, you didn’t like Remus Lupin very much the first time you met him.
His quiet nature came of as rude, he never really made an effort with you and anyone beyond your brother and his other friends didn’t seem worth a second glance to young Remus Lupin.
Not that James ever agreed with you. He was very insistent that the young werewolf was a brilliant man that you just hadn’t given a chance.
You could only laugh if James saw you now.
“Are you sure no one saw you?” you murmured against his lips as you tugged your boyfriend into your bedroom, a spell muttered under your breath to lock the door behind him. The small perks of James inviting his friends to stay with him over the course of summer.
“Positive, love,” Remus reassured you before he ducked his head down to the crook of your neck, letting out a small groan. “I’ve missed you.”
“You saw me less than two hours ago,” you mused playfully, fingers tangled in his hair.
“Yeah, but I couldn’t do this,” he grumbled as he pressed kisses along the column of your throat, teeth dragging across sensitive skin.
“Remember not to leave—“
“I know, baby. I’ll be careful.”
But Remus Lupin was, in fact, not careful. He wasn’t careful in the slightest and you blame your lack of less-than-murderous thoughts in the morning for the fact you didn’t notice anything either before you headed downstairs the next day.
“What is that?”
You didn’t bother looking up from plate, blinking away the sleepiness in your eyes. “Hm?”
“What’s that on your neck?” James repeated, his tone a little snappier and his words a little heavier.
Your whole body froze for a moment as you resisted the urge to cover your neck with your hands. “What’s what, Jamie?”
“No, don’t Jamie me,” James’ chair scraped across the wooden floor before he was beside you, tilting your head to the side. “This is a hickey! You have a hickey!”
You pulled your head from his grasp and glared at him. “Stop making a big deal out of nothing.”
“My baby sister has a hickey!” James cried out, hand on his chest like he was moments away from passing out.
“Who’s the lucky wizard?” Sirius asked from his spot at the table, smirk on his lips. “Or witch. We would never judge.”
“You’re too young to have a hickey!” James interrupted.
“That,” you said as you pointed to your brother. “Is exactly why I’m telling neither of you anything.”
Sirius pouted. “I thought we were closer than that, baby Potter.”
“You have a big mouth, Black,” you stated simply with a shrug.
Sirius grinned. “So does the bloke who gave you that ringer on your neck.”
“BLEH!” James gagged as you rolled your eyes.
“C’mon, tell us!” Sirius prodded.
James turned to you, eyes narrowed. “Yeah,” he said in his ‘big brother’ voice. “Tell us. Right now. I need to know who’s head I’m ripping off their body.”
“Stop being so dramatic!” You sighed and shook your head. “Like I said, I’m telling neither of you two anything.”
“Just us?” Sirius questioned before nodding to Remus who had been fairly quiet during the ordeal. “So you’d tell Moony and not us?”
Your eyes met his from across the table and you could’ve sworn something smug glimmered in his eyes. You could’ve sworn you could see semblances of a smirk tugging on his lips as he lifted his cup for a sip.
“I know how to keep a secret, Pads,” Remus answered casually. “Japan would know by dinner time if she told you.”
“I’m waiting on a name,” James said with a huff.
“Keep waiting then,” you said with a shrug. “I’m not telling you anything. I’m a big girl, I can have a boyfriend.”
“BOYFRIEND?!” James spluttered.
“Sit down, Prongs, before you hurt yourself,” Remus muttered.
Sirius narrowed his eyes. “Was he here last night?”
There was a pause.
“Is he still here?”
Before you could even open your mouth to respond, both boys were bolting towards the staircase, already racing towards your bedroom that you knew very well they’d find empty because the culprit they were looking for was currently grinning at you.
“You said you’d be careful,” you grumbled to your boyfriend who could only let out a small chuckle.
“Can’t help myself, baby, you’re irresistible.”
Your eyes narrowed. “Sweet talk me all you like, Lupin, but you’re on thin ice.”
His eyes glimmered with a dark promise. “You gonna punish me, sweetheart?”
“Maybe I will. Guess you gotta sneak back into my room tonight to find out.”
“I’ll be there.”
You snorted. “Yeah, good luck getting past James and Sirius tonight.”
A Plethora of Embraces (Cassian x Reader)
Hello!!!! I’m back!!!!
Disappeared there for a hot minute but found myself on a 7 hour flight so thought why not spend it trying to break through my horrific writers block.
This fic is little snippets of the relationship between Cassian and Reader shown through moments of hugs and embraces from a fic idea I’ve had stuck in my head for months.
Let me know what you think and if you want to see more 💕
Word count: 4.3k
The Beginning
You had been in and out of the Inner Circles’ lives for centuries. As niece to Beron, you had always been involved in court formalities and, at the age of 12, had even lived alongside Rhys in the Night Court for a few years when your uncle and Rhys’ father had decided to strengthen ties between the two courts and, unbeknownst to you and Rhys, had planned for you to be wed.
Their scheming did not go well and was met with much retaliation and disgust from the pair of you at the thought of having to marry one of your closest friends. Cassian and Azriel had been beside themselves when they found out, their teasing and laughter had been relentless.
This sense of happiness that you had found for yourself was short lived. After what had taken place between Mor and Eris, you had been dragged back to the Autumn Court where Beron forbade you to see your friends.
This all changed after the death of Rhys’ mother and sister. You had felt your heart break in two when you heard the news and had immediately rushed to your uncles office. You wanted to ask for permission to visit the Night Court so that you could be there for your friends and to say your goodbyes, however, the conversation you overheard had you turning on the spot and rushing back towards your bedroom.
*****
Beron, apparently, had found the whole situation rather amusing. The hateful words shared between him and his advisors ringing in your eyes as you hurriedly packed your things and tried to figure out how you would actually get to the Night Court.
You froze at the sound of your bedroom door opening, quickly turning around and coming face to face with Eris.
Despite the distance that had befallen between you and your older cousin in the fallout of what happened with Mor, there was still a level of understanding.
When you were younger, you had idolised Eris, following him around and constantly asking after him despite his irritation, which you knew, deep down, was all for show.
In reality, Eris had a soft spot for you which hadn’t once faltered over the years. Which was why he now stood in your doorway, offering you a way out that he knew his father would refuse to grant you.
Once your belongings were gathered, Eris winnowed you to the Night Court, leaving you there with nothing more than a tight smile and a squeeze to your shoulder.
You quickly found Rhys and, to your bittersweet surprise, Mor, Cassian, and Azriel all grieving alongside him.
*****
Beron was furious when he learnt of your disappearance, unaware that it was his eldest son who had made it happen.
However, Rhys, as High Lord, had already offered you protection and a place in his court as Emissary, leaving you with the satisfying job of turning your uncle away as he smugly watched on, Cassian and Azriel’s siphons flaring in warning as Beron stormed away.
Everything felt as though it had finally fallen into place. You were back with your friends, your family, in the only place that ever truly felt like home. Despite the years of separation, the bond you shared with the Inner Circle remained, allowing you to slot in as though you had never left.
The “Friend” Hug
The sound of wings and booming laughter halted the conversation you were having with Mor and Amren. The three of you had been lounging in the Town House for most of the day as you waited for the boys to finish up their annual snowball fight.
You all looked up expectantly as the door opened. Rhys, face laced with irritation, offered a mere grunt in acknowledgment before storming towards the kitchen. You grinned at the others; he was clearly not this year’s winner.
Azriel followed in, looking amused at the whole encounter, taking a seat in one of the empty arm chairs by the fire. But it was Cassian’s wide, satisfied grin, that didn’t once falter as he collapsed beside you on the couch, that told you who had won.
“You seem awfully proud of yourself.” Mor said, taking a sip of her wine.
Before Cassian could reply, Rhys stomped back in, shoving a bottle of one of his most expensive liquors into Cassian’s chest.
“You didn’t win, you cheated. He cheated,” Rhys exclaimed, looking at you all in an almost childlike manner.
“Oh let’s bet on Azriel loosing this year,” His mocking imitation had you all grinning. “Meanwhile, this whole time, he had a bet with Azriel that I would win, so while Az was taking me out, Cassian over here got a clear shot to take Az out.”
Cassian just gave a shrug in response as he opened up his winnings and took a sip straight from the bottle, “For what it’s worth, this really is exquisite, Rhysand. One of the oldest in your collection wasn’t it?”
Rhys simply whacked him over the head with a muttered, “Cheating bastard,” before collapsing on the floor by the fireplace.
Chuckling, Mor got up to open another bottle of wine as Cassian lazily draped an arm over the back of the couch, pulling you in for a tight hug that sent a wave of unexpected butterflies coursing through you.
That was new.
You had always found Cassian attractive, how could you not? But the thought of him being anymore than one of your closest friends had not once crossed your mind over the centuries of knowing one another.
Before you could dwell on what it meant, Cassian gave you another tight squeeze as he sat up straighter and clapped his hands together, simply asking, “Present time?”
You pushed your confusion to the back of your mind, as you all settled in for your usual Winter Solstice traditions.
The “Leads-to-Something-More-Hug”
The silence of the early morning was broken by your laughter as you and Cassian stumbled through the streets of Velaris after a night at Rita’s.
You had both decided it was time to leave when you noticed the only fae left in the hall were those pairing up to end the night together. Neither of you were ready to go home so you ended up roaming the streets and, to the disdain of those living nearby, make a somewhat tipsy nuisance of yourselves.
A loud yawn escaped you after another fit of laughter as you watched Cassian reenact some of his ‘infamous’ dance moves from earlier in the night. This had your friend promptly sobering up as he scooped you into his arms, simply saying, “Well, I think it’s time we called it a night and got you home, sleepyhead.”
The warmth radiating off of him as you sleepily rested your head on his chest had you calming immediately. The cool morning air rushing around you as you flew back to the House of Wind had you both sobering up, an almost tranquil silence replacing the laughter and excited chatter from before.
In your dazed state, you stumbled atop the balcony as Cassian placed you back on your own two feet, causing him to laugh and wrap his arms around you to keep you upright.
“You alright?”
You sheepishly smiled up at him, however, the words on your lips were snatched away by the bright flash of colour that streaked the sky.
Turning to look over Velaris, you were both silenced by the radiant oranges, yellows, and reds of the rising sun.
Content to watch the day break, you lost track of time as you stood together, Cassian’s arms still embracing you, watching the show of colours across the horizon.
Utterly in awe, you grinned at Cassian who offered you a gentle smile in return.
“This is beautiful. I didn’t realise how late we stayed out.” Your soft laugh set something alight in Cassian’s chest, his smile deepening as he watched you take in the view.
He wasn’t sure if it was a result of the alcohol, his tired state, or just the proximity to you in this shared moment, but something shifted in him, as though he were seeing you properly for the first time.
Taking in the way your eyes lit up and the way the colour of the sun shone through your hair, leaving a soft glow across you, had him pulling you in even closer.
You smiled up at him, causing his heart to flutter in his chest. And when a sudden gust of wind had your hair falling across your face, he didn’t hesitate to reach out and gently tuck it behind your ear, leaving his hand lingering there as he caressed your cheek.
All thoughts and reservations left him as you stared back with wide eyes; the only thing he was aware of was you, just mere inches away, and the deep, longing desire he suddenly had to hold you even closer and kiss you like he had never kissed anyone before.
Your breathing hitched, causing him to blink back into the moment as he took you in, seemingly glowing as the sun continued to rise.
Rubbing his thumb over your cheek again, Cassian was at a loss for words.
“Y/N—“
But you didn’t give him the chance to say anything as you reached your arms up and around his neck, pulling his face down to yours and kissing him with such surprising passion that left you wondering why this hadn’t happened earlier.
Cassian responded immediately. Kissing you back with an intensity that had your knees buckling and a soft whimper escaping from the back of your throat. He wrapped his arms around you, lifting you off your feet as he let his tongue gently glide over your lips, asking for permission which you granted without hesitation.
The “Get-A-Room” Hug
You were all haphazardly plonked throughout the fire-lit sitting room in the House of Wind after dinner and a few too many drinks.
It was starting to become somewhat of a rare occasion for you, Cassian, Rhys, Azriel, Mor, and Amren to all be in the one room. Trade settlements between Hybern and Prythian, as well as the treaty with the humans, had been keeping you all busy.
The full feeling you had after dinner, the warmth of the fire, and the multiple glasses of wine you had consumed left you in a somewhat drowsy state. Sitting in Cassian’s lap, your legs draped over the side of the armchair and your head nuzzled into his neck, you couldn’t stop the content smile from gracing your features as you watched and listened to your friends.
Clearly picking up on your emotions through the mating bond, Cassian let out a soft, resounding chuckle before pressing a kiss to your cheek and then your forehead.
“And what are you smiling at?” His deep voice murmured in your ear as he placed another kiss to your neck.
You just grinned back at him in response, giving him a quick kiss before turning your attention back to your friends.
Cassian’s attention, however, was now fully on you. He pulled you further into him and started rubbing soft circles across your side, pressing chaste kisses to the top of your head, and murmuring sweet nothings into your ear as he tried to recapture your attention.
One particular whispering about the plans he had for you later that night had you whipping your head around, a soft blush spreading over your face as you hoped no one else had heard him. He shot you a toothy grin, causing you to scowl up at him but before you could reprimand, his calloused hand was grasping your chin and pulling you into a searing kiss.
“For caldrons sake! At least wait until we’ve all left.” Amren’s sharp voice broke through, causing you to pull away from Cassian with a sheepish look. However, it was evident by the hand that lingered on your neck and the intense gaze Cassian was directing at you, that he didn’t share your hesitation.
“Or better yet, get a room. I live here too, remember?” Azriel’s muttered taunt through his drink had the heat returning to your face.
“Please. You’re both just jealous. Maybe you should consider warming each other’s beds.” Cassian retorted without missing a beat. You laughed along with Rhys and Mor at the spluttered indignation coming from your other friends.
It seemed that was it for Cassian though, as he pulled you to your feet alongside him, plucking the glass of wine out of your hand, and wrapping his other arm around your waist.
“Well, while the two of you work out the logistics,” the book Amren had been holding flew across the room and found its target, “I think it’s time that the two of us go find a room, thanks for the advice Az.” Your mate said with a wink before guiding you out of the room, only giving you a chance to shoot your friends an apologetic smile before the door shut behind you.
The “Dismissed” Hug
“Go away Cassian.”
You continued to ignore your mate as you finished getting ready, having enough of the week-long argument that was only going around and around in circles.
“I don’t like this,” Cassian continued, ignoring your irritation at him. “It doesn’t make any sense.”
You let out a huff.
“I know you don’t like it. It’s all you’ve been talking about since Rhys first told us. Still doesn’t change the fact that I’m going with him.”
Your mate took a seat by the fireplace in your shared room, watching as you finished the final touches before changing into your flowing dress.
The invitation from Amarantha had arrived a week ago, inviting all High Lords and their Courts to join Hybern in a ball to further commemorate the ongoing peace between the two lands.
You glanced towards Cassian, finding him still watching you with a concerned look spread across his face. With a soft sigh, you crossed the room and knelt in front of him.
“Cass, we’ve been over this,” You laced your hands through his, trying to ease the worry and tension you felt coursing through the bond. “Rhys doesn’t trust her, none of us do, but we need to figure out what’s actually going on—“
“If he doesn’t trust her, then why is it just the two of you going?”
“Cassian—“
“At least if I’m there, I’m something happens, then I can prote—“
“What? You can what Cassian? Protect me?” You let out a harsh, humourless laugh, standing back up and taking a step away from him. “I got along perfectly fine before you Cassian. Just because we’re now mates doesn’t mean I’m entirely dependent on you. I can look after myself.”
You turned your back to him as you looked over yourself once more in the mirror, cautiously watching as Cassian ran a hand through his, already disheveled, hair before following after you.
“Y/N, I know you can look after yourself. Just let me talk to Rhys, let me be there too.” He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
Usually this would have you melting on the spot, all pent up words and tensions long forgotten. But you had lost count of how many times the pair of you had had this discussion the past week and had finally reached your limit as you shrugged out of his embrace and pierced him with a cold look.
“No Cassian, I need to go.”
“Y/N—“ he reached after you as you stepped towards the door but you threw his hand off of you.
“I’ll see you tonight.” Your tone was blunt and cold, shoulders tense as you shut the door behind you.
The “Reunion” Hug
50 years.
50 years you had been trapped Under The Mountain.
50 years without seeing your home. Your friends. Your mate.
But now you were grasping Rhys’ hand as though your life depended on it, scared that if you waited a moment longer you would miss your chance of getting out.
He winnowed you both to the House of Wind, absentmindedly muttering something about needing to check on the Court of Nightmares before he left you standing on the balcony alone.
You knew he needed some time. Time to collect himself and process everything that had happened before facing his family for the first time in half a century.
Letting out a shaky breath, you looked out across Velaris, not quite daring to believe that it was finally over.
The sound of the door hurriedly opening and closing had you turning on the spot. The usually calm and collected Shadowsinger looked at you with an expression of pure shock and disbelief.
Your eyes begun to well with tears as Azriel cautiously approached you.
“Y/N? What… Rhys just reached out, said you were back. How…? Are you alright?”
Your friend’s unusually frazzled disposition had your tears freely flowing as he pulled you into a tight hug, rubbing your back as you tried to collect yourself.
He gave you the time and silence you needed, holding you as you tried to get your breathing under control.
Azriel pulled back and you gave him a small smile.
“Hi Az.”
“Hi,” He was shaking his head, a hint of amusement on his face at your casual greeting, mixed with concern as he checked over you for any sign of injury.
There was a beat of silence but the Shadowsinger must have read the thoughts that were racing through your head.
“He’s been on patrol all morning. I have no doubt he’s on his way back to you right now.” The tears returned to your eyes as you nodded, unable to bring yourself to speak.
Azriel lead you inside, helping you into one of the soft armchairs before going off to make you a cup of tea.
You were grateful for the moment alone, aware that Azriel probably knew you needed it as he took his time in the kitchen.
Since Amarantha’s death, you hadn’t let yourself think about too closely about seeing your mate again, keeping a tight grasp on the bond that sealed it from any and all emotions.
Whether it was fear of getting your hopes up only to have them crushed, or shame at how you ended that last conversation with him, recoiling from his touch when all he offered was love and concern, you weren’t sure.
The memory of realising you were trapped came rushing back like a tidal wave. The growing confusion and fear that spread throughout the hall as Amarantha, atop her dais, watched on with a smirk. Desperately turning to Rhys as you felt the mating bond growing weaker and weaker before completely disappearing, only to find a pained expression on your friend’s face, eyes glazed over as he undoubtedly spoke to the Inner Circle one last time.
Squeezing your eyes shut, you took in a deep breath. Refusing to let your mind wander back to what had occurred the past 50 years.
Movement from the doorway pulled you back to reality. Turning around, expecting to find Azriel with a steaming mug in hand, your body tensed and time seemed to halt as you took in the sight of your mate.
Cassian’s stunned expression was full of emotion; shock, worry, wariness. Your eyes filled with tears as you gaped back at him, forgetting how to speak, how to move.
The reality of your mate being mere feet away diminished any remaining doubt that your freedom was an illusion, some cruel trick for Amarantha’s amusement.
A shaky breath left you as you slowly got to your feet, the release of the steady hand you had over the bond making way for the plethora of emotions coursing towards you. It was almost too much after living through so many years of its absence.
But one emotion rose up from the rest, blinding your senses of anything that wasn’t the male standing in front of you.
Love
So much love was coursing through you and from you that you found yourself unconsciously taking a step forward.
That was all Cassian needed to break out of the trance he had been in since hearing Rhys’ message that you were both back. That you were home.
He closed the space between you in just a few strides. Forcing himself to restrain from touching you in case you needed space. But as your face crumpled, as the tears flowed from your eyes, and as you desperately reached towards him as though nothing else would ground you in that moment, all resolve went out the window.
Your arms wrapped around his neck, his around your waist. Holding each other in such a way that neither knew where one started and the other ended.
“Y/N…” Cassian started, trailing off in disbelief, his eyes blurring with tears.
Just hearing your name from his lips sent you over the edge as you began sobbing into his chest. If it hadn’t been for Cassian holding you so tightly, your buckling knees would’ve sent you to the ground. Instead, Cassian slowly guided you both down, seemingly incapable of keeping himself up.
Time passed in a blur. Minutes, hours, days.
Everything that wasn’t you and Cassian ceased to exist as you clung to one another in a desperate attempt to fill the gap of the last 50 years.
The “Lazily-Intertwined” Hug
Neither of you had said much in the time you knelt together, only parting with the arrival of your friends and the emotional reunion you all shared.
Cassian was back at your side the instant the tearful exchanges were over, unwilling to not be touching you in some way, as though any loss of contact would have you disappearing into thin air.
However, it didn’t take long for everything to catch up to you, leaving you emotionally and physically drained as you slumped against Cassian’s side.
“You alright?” He quietly asked, pressing a soft kiss to your head.
“Mhm, just tired.”
That was all Cassian needed as he helped you up, excusing the pair of you before leading you to your bedroom.
Cassian waited in the doorway as you stepped inside, taking in the familiar comforts of the space you had created together. You couldn’t help but notice the warmth of the room missing, along with the scent of your mate that you had longed for.
“I haven’t…” Cassian started, sensing your question before you needed to ask. “I couldn’t bring myself to come in here, not since you…”
The break in his voice had you silently crossing the room towards him. You held his face in your hands, softly pulling him down towards yours before placing a gentle kiss to his lips. The feeling of him was both new and the same. Like something you knew in another life, which, you supposed, was somewhat true.
Cassian rested his forehead against yours, your breath mixing in with his, growing heavier as you felt his lashes flutter against you. As you opened your eyes, finding him drinking in the sight of you, you knew there were no need for words. At least not right now.
Almost shyly, you kissed him again, a soft sigh escaping your lips as he eagerly responded, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you even closer before gently placing you down on the bed.
You lost yourselves in the exploration and reacquaintance of one another. Slow and gentle, turning to hard and desperate, turning to loving and thorough.
Bodies sweaty and still intertwined, your head rested on Cassian’s chest, taking comfort in the rise and fall of each breath and the steady pounding of his heart beneath your ear. His arms were wrapped around you, one hand rubbing soothing circles across your back, the other tangled in your hair as he repeatedly placed soft, lingering kisses to the top of your head.
The two of you spent the next few days in this state; only surfacing from your room when a grumble of an empty stomach broke through and pulled you both back to reality.
You were more than content to just be, and to continue enveloping yourself in the safety and warmth your mate provided.
So you continued to take each other in, in whatever way you could, whether that be through making love, fucking, holding one another, or simply laying side-by-side, content to simply bask in one another’s company.
You hadn’t yet been able to open up about what the past 50 years had been like for you, and Cassian gave you the space and time you needed to sort through the thoughts racing around your head.
But as he slept, sprawled across the bed, his head resting on your stomach, one arm around your waist, and his other hand holding your own to his chest, it finally clicked that you were home.
The “It’s-Okay-I’m-Here” Hug
You had been back for two months, and although you were adjusting well and falling back into a routine, the horrors of what you had witnessed and endured lingered.
You woke with a start.
Sweat coated your body, sheets tangled from your obvious tossing and turning. Trying to slow your heavy breaking and shaky hands, you frantically looked around the room, calming only once you saw Cassian sitting up beside you, his features laced with worry.
He searched your face for affirmation that you were okay before pulling you against his bare chest, rubbing your head and gently rocking you as you steadied your breathing.
“It’s okay. You’re okay,” he murmured against your hair. “I’m here, we’re both here Y/N. You’re safe.”
You nodded, burrowing yourself into him even further as a few tears escaped your eyes.
No, what had happened Under The Mountain still plagued you. Nights like this, where your dreams were turned to nightmares of being back there, were more frequent than not.
But with Cassian holding you tightly to him, his scent enveloping you just as much as the warmth radiating from him, you knew that everything was going to be better someday.
“The fuck?” Bradley Bradshaw hated the festive season. He wasn't a Christmas guy. He didn't have an awful lot of family to celebrate with over the consumerist holiday that was shoved down your throat before mid November. He just wasn't the kinda guy who wanted to get involved in the festivities.
“Who's calling you at ten at night?” Natasha Trace would probably end up regretting her decision to sleep with her co-worker and friend, but the drunken antics she and Rooster had gotten up to earlier in the afternoon ended up with a trip back to his house.
“Its Hangman–” Bradley answered the naked woman beside him as he sat up in the bed he truly never should have brought her back to. He knew Phoenix would end up regretting her decision to sleep with him. A pity fuck they’d both end up calling it. “Hello?”
“Are you busy?” Jake asked as he continued to watch you sleep. It had been a few hours since he got to the hospital and about two since he told your mother to go home for some much deserved rest.
Bradley looked over his shoulder to see Phoenix rolling over, her chest laid flat against the mattress that smelled so much of Bradley. He sighed, peeled the covers up from over his legs and swung them over the side.
“Nah, what’s up? Everything good?” The pair hadn’t always been on good terms, but ever since Jake had ultimately risked his own life to save Roosters, the two had been able to put their differences aside and let bygones be bygones.
“I don’t think I’m coming back after Christmas.” Jake started as he let his head lean against the far too uncomfortable hospital chair he’d been sitting in for the better half of four hours. “Somethings’ happened and I dunno what I’m gonna do man.” It was the tone Jake was using that made Bradley frown as he slipped into his sweats.
“Something happen to one of the kids, man?” Rooster has never heard Jake sound so defeated before. But as he padded down the hall Rooster had to stop in his tracks as Jake explained your current situation. He read the notes right from your chart, from the type of cancer to the stroke you had, how he tried to tuck your hair behind your ear and it fell from your scalp. How he’d tried to win you back, how you’d slept together, how you told him you still loved him yet thought divorce was the best way to go about things. Jake emptied his heart on Bradley sleeve and Bradley didn’t know how to process the pain and anguish Jake was obviously feeling.
“Are you at the hospital right now? With Y/n?”
“Yeah—yeah I just sent Maz, Y/n’s mum home to rest and shit.” Jake ran his hand across his face as he watched the IV bag containing your sedative get smaller and smaller. He wasn’t sure how you were going to react when you woke up and saw he was here. “I’ll probably go between here and her house, the kids are at mum's place and I can’t imagine what they’re thinking knowing that we’re both not there.”
“I could uh—“ Bradley Bradshaw wasn’t a Christmas guy, but he was a family first person. “I could fly out? Maybe get the kids from your mum's house and get them back to Rhode Island? I’m not doing anything this Christmas so I’ve got time.”
“Bradshaw,” Jake nearly sobbed. “I couldn’t ask you to do that for me.”
“It’s nothing, really, you’re one guy man, stay with your wife, or ex wife? I don’t really wanna get into your business but just text me the details when you can and I’ll organise your kids.”
“I’ll text you my sister's number.” Jake replied. “She’ll help you out.” There was no real reason to argue, Jake knew that once Rooster had his mind set on something he was gonna do it.
“No worries, I’m uh—I don’t even know what to say man, I’m so sorry, no one deserves to go through this.” It hit Rooster too close to home, his mother died when he was seventeen from Breast Cancer very similar to yours. It took her quicker than doctors had ever anticipated.
He just hopes you wouldn’t meet the same untimely fate.
“Anything man, anything you need, I'm there.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***
Time seemed more like an artificial construct as Jake watched Lydia disconnect the line that had been slowly feeding your body with a moderate range sedative. The young nurse looked guilty as she tried to avoid eye contact with the man she had accidentally told private patient information to.
“She’ll slowly start to wake up over the next hour now that she isn’t slowly taking on the sedative.” Lydia explained. “She might be quite irritable and loopy but I’ll have her surgeon come by for assessment once she’s up.”
“When I was about your age I accidentally hit one of my commanding officers' car while pulling out of the car park at the Naval Base I was stationed at.” Jake mentioned as he let himself curl up in the world's most uncomfortable chair. “Point is we all
make mistakes, don’t beat yourself up about it, but I’d definitely be a little more cautious when reading patients emergency contacts.”
“You’re wife’s a pretty strong woman Mr. Seresin.” Lydia smiled. “I hope that despite whatever reason she was keeping all this from you, that she’s happy you’re by her side when she wakes up.” Jake chuckled as he slightly readjusted himself and pulled his hood over his head. There were a plethora of ways you could react to his presence running through his mind, he hoped though, that the young nurse who’d accidentally filled him in on your current fight was right.
“I hope so too kid, I hope so too.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***
The slow steady rhythm of the many monitors currently tracking your vitals were the first sounds you heard as you slowly but surely woke from what you could only describe as one of the deepest states of complete and utter rest you’d ever experienced.
Next it was the multi coloured Christmas lights that were hanging around your room. The reds, greens, yellows and blues that reminded you of nineties joy were the first things you noticed in the dimly lit hospital room you knew you were in.
The third thing you noticed wasn’t a sound or an object, but it was the all too familiar sleeping man curled up in the most awkward position imaginable next to your bedside. Jake, your Jake. Sleeping with his mouth open wide and his arms crossed over his chest.
“Woah—“ You groggily cooed as you felt the presence of another man checking your vitals beside you. “Whatever the hell kinda drugs you’ve got me on right now Doc has me seeing my ex husband.” You smiled ear to ear as you kept looking at Jake, sleeping, a little bit of drool even tainted his chin as his arms remained crossed and his hood covered his head. “This shits strong as.”
Doctor Ignatii continued reading and recording your vitals the more you came to, he knew, judging by the time you’d finished your dose of intravenous sedative and how cognitive you were, you’d come to realise in about two, maybe three minutes indefinitely that it wasn’t the drugs making you see the mirage of a man at your bedside, but in fact the real deal.
“Mrs Seresin, can you follow the light for me?” Doctor Ignatii asked with a smile as he clicked on the small but effective flashlight at the end of his pen. He was gentle with the way he handled your head ever so cautiously, holding your eyelids open one by one as you followed the light accordingly. “Can you count to five?”
“One, two, three, four, five—“ You mumbled out. Jake heard your voice as he stirred next to you and shot up with a gasp that startled you. He looked like a deer caught in headlights as he sat upright and wiped the dry drool from his chin.
“Welcome back to the land of the living Mr Seresin, I've seen a lot of ways people have tried to sleep in those horrid chairs but I’ve never seen that particular position before.” Doctor Ignatii chuckled to himself as he clicked his pen light off and placed it back in his top pocket. “Alright Y/n, wiggle your toes and touch your nose for me.” All you did was stare at your husband. Why was he here? Who told him? “Mrs Seresin, wiggle your toes for me please.” Doctor Ignatii was a little firmer in his request, he wasn't sure if you were just distracted or if you simply couldn't comply with his request because you couldn't feel your toes.
But when you finally did wiggle your toes, when you finally brought your index finger up to your nose and when you finally spoke, Doctor Ignatii knew that in the next hour or so when he got you up and walking, that you were going to be just fine.
“What are you doing here?” Your voice was rather horse from the sedative but you were able to ask Jake that all too powerful question that sliced his skin clean open like one of the sharpest knives never could. Doctor Ignatii knew that he had to give you some space when he was finished assessing your ability to wiggle your toes he cleared his throat. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“I'll give you two a moment alone, but Lydia will be in shortly.” He explained before making his way out of your hospital room. The silence was deafening as Jake cleared his throat and looked anywhere but in your eyes to begin with.
“Jake–” You immediately asked again as you tried to sit up a little straighter. “What are you doing here?” Jake ignored your initial question and instead pressed his tongue into the middle of his cheek. His blood was boiling, he was so full of rage that you hadn’t told him you were sick that he couldn't think straight now that he knew you were awake and talking. You were supposed to be the mother of his children if at the very least. He felt like you had an obligation to disclose medical diagnoses that could alter the course of your children's lives. Right?
“You have cancer and you didn't tell me?” Jake frowned as he spoke through a tired growl. “You have cancer and you didn’t think to mention it at all, not even a downplayed version of the truth? You just–” Jakes reaction wasn't something that surprised you, but his anger did. That anger was something you hadn’t seen in a long time, anger born from love and compassion. An anger so pure it rivalled empathy itself just in a different font. “You just negated the entire thing? Jesus Christ Y/n! You have–”
“Stage three A, triple positive grade three invasive doctoral carcinoma.” You interrupted Jake as tears welled in your eyes. “I know, I found out back in November, I hadn’t been feeling all that well since around March.” You kicked yourself everyday for not getting yourself to a doctor sooner, but with your separation, work, the kids, you just decided to self diagnose yourself as an overworked mum who had little to no time for herself. Finding the time to see a doctor was nearly impossible, it was only when you found that lump in the shower you panicked. “Jake I–”
“You–” Jake clenched his jaw as tight as he could, you swore he could have chipped his bottom teeth he was clenching that hard trying to control his frustration. “You don’t get to fucking do this to me do you understand?”
“Excuse me?” You questioned as Jake stood up from the chair he’d been cramped in for the better half of the last twelve hours. “I didn’t choose to do this willingly Jake are you fucking kidding me?” It may have come out more aggressive than Jake had intended it to, but his heart hurt so much he swore he was having a heart attack the more he looked at you in the hospital bed connected to machines and wires that told him what your heart was doing and what your blood pressure was. “I didn't choose to get fucking cancer!”
“No, no you didn’t Y/n but you chose not to tell me about it.” Jake sighed. “Am I really that bad of a person that you can't tell the father of your fuckings kids that you might be dying? Stage three!? I'd understand if you had a scare and didn’t mention it or a bad rash but stage three?” Jake spat as he walked around your hospital room like he was looking for a way out of this whole mess. “That’s closer to a death sentence than it is to a malignant mass!”
All you could do was listen, you couldn't run this time. You had to face the man who broke your heart more ways than one as he raised his voice and walked around your hospital room with his hands on his hips.
“You, you had a stroke too.” Jake's voice softened as did his eyes, the realisation had hit as the immediate love filled anger that clouded his judgement faded. The misguided anger that he might truly be losing the love of his life had begun to wash away as the sadness crept in.
“Yeah–” You didn't hold it against Jake, you'd had more time to process this than he did. “Apparently the chemotherapy was just causing havoc to my nervous system and caused a clot that travelled from my leg to my brain.” You said it with a shrug, like it was no big deal. Jake's eyes widened at the idea of something that was meant to help you had done so much damage. “I was given a pamphlet, strokes were a side effect, but I just didn’t think it would happen to me you know.”
“Honeybee–” Jake cooed as he came back over to your bedside. “I–” There was a distinct tentative pause in the way his hand automatically went to slip into yous, but even though Jake second guessed his own judgement there for a split second, he still placed his hand in yours and reveled in the way you squeezed him back. “I can't understand why you wouldn't tell me about this.” Jake had tried to understand, truly he did. He thought about it alot on the plane–all the ways in which he’d ever let you down. He understood he was a shitty husband, or had been, but this was life or death.
Jake almost wished he never asked why and had instead just silently accepted the fact you decided not to loop him in on what was probably your biggest health complication since Samuel was born. He almost wished he hadn’t asked because the way you looked right into his eyes as your bottom lip quivered and your eyes watered with such a heartbreaking cry of anguish that ripped through your chest, Jake wished he hadnt fucking asked.
“I didn't tell you because I just didn't think you’d care.” You cried violently as Jake helped you sit up. “I didnt–I just didnt think youd, you'd care about me.” Your cries were muffled into Jake's shoulder as he held you, he wanted to climb right into the hospital bed with you, but he couldn't. So Jake compromised and leaned over just enough to wrap you in his arms and rub small circles into your back as you buried your face in his chest and shoulder. “I didn't think you’d fucking care–because you haven’t cared about me in years!”
“I have never stopped caring about you.” Jake cried too, he couldn't hold it in any longer. “I have never and I will never stop caring about you Honey.” It was a hard statement to believe especially with what the past four years had been. “I promised you in sickness and in health, I'm here, I've got you.” Jake cooed as he tried to soothe you, your cries of pure anguish for your own situation made him want to die. What more could he possibly do to ease this burden from you, what could he possibly do to take the pain away. “I'm here, I'm right here.”
“You don’t have to pretend.” You tried to calm yourself down as much as you could. “Please Jake you don’t have to pretend to care about me anymore, I’m not yours.”
“No you’re not—“ Jake nodded in agreement as he pulled away to wipe your tears, you looked like hell but he wasn’t about to tell you that. To Jake you were still the most beautiful woman in the entire world, the only woman he ever needed, wanted. “But I’m still yours alright, you have me and I’m not pretending.” Jake wiped the pads of his thumbs across your cheeks, he tried not to tug at the oxygen tube feeding into your nose. “I’ve got you yeah? You don’t have to do this alone.”
“I never wanted to do any of it alone.” You sobbed again, it was all too much. Jake knew what you meant by all, you never expected your marriage to fall apart. Neither did he. “I can’t do any of this, I’m so fucking scared.” If someone had asked Jake three years ago if his marriage would fall apart around him, he would have stood up and punched whoever had said such blasphemy in the mouth. But here he was.
“You’re okay.” Jake tried his best to console you, he did know what else he could do in the moment beside to hold you. The kiss he left atop your forehead was so pure and full of love you swore it sent an electric shock through your body, the same kind of electricity you felt when you slept with Jake the night before you said goodbye to your kids. “I'm not leaving your side alright, “I’m here, I've got you, I can't lose you this way– I wont.”
Jake knew this love was a burden that you both shared. The both of you were just two sinners who can't atone from a lone prayer. Two souls tied, intertwined by pride and guilt.
***~***~***~***~***~***~***
Jake was true to his word, he didn't leave your side for the rest of the day. He stayed right by your side hand in hand, just sitting there, talking, not talking, sleeping. All that mattered was that he was there.
“What do you mean Bradley Bradshaw offered to get the kids from your mum's house?” You thought for a split second that perhaps you hadnt woken up. Or maybe you'd actually woken up in some parallel universe where your husband never forgot how to love you and he didn't have a disdain for the man who gave him his Call Sign out of rage. “Bradley Bradshaw? As in Rooster?”
Jake couldn't help but to smile, there was so much he had to fill you in on, the two of you hadnt really sat down and spoken uninterrupted without the kids since January. Sure there were family functions and times where you and Jake had to coexist and coparents. But he never really saw a reason to tell you all about his time in North Island. You were with him when he was called to Togun the first time, there wasn't any need to really rub your nose in the fact he was called back again. After all, a part of the reason you left was because Jake prioritised his work life over his home life, more specifically, you.
“Would you believe me if I told you I saved his life?” Jake couldn't erase the grin that grew ear to ear from his face as he watched your eyes light up with shock and excitement. He missed this, the gentle moments.
“You did not–” In all the time you had known Jake while he was a loyalist to the United States Navy, he had never once put a toe out of line. Never pushed back, never rocked the boat. He had a goal and that goal was to reach the top. You couldn't do that while drawing unwanted attention to yourself.
“I did,” He chuckled through that very grin that you swore was permanently pinned to his cheeks. “Even went against orders to do it.” The look of pure shock on your face told Jake all he needed to know, you didn't believe what he was telling you.
“Who are you and what have you done with Jake Seresin?” You chuckled softly as Jake ran his thumb across your hand. “You? Going against the brace? Unheard of.” A lot of what made Jake, well, Jake–was that he loved his job.
“Trust me Honey I never thought I'd see the damn day either.” Jake sighed, he still couldn't believe how much his time in North Island had changed him. How it broadened his perspective on all the things that made him simply him. “But he was stuck in a pretty tight spot, so was Mav, our Captain.”
“Well–” You smiled as you readjusted yourself in your bed. Unbeknownst to both you and Jake, Lydia was watching just out of frame from her spot at the nurses station. She couldn't help but to notice the loving, all encompassing look the two of you shared. Perhaps her small mistake that usually would have been a carrier ending HIPAA violation wasn't so bad after all. “Look at The Hangman go huh, who says he's always leaving people out to dry.”
“Oh I could still name a few–” It was organic the way you and Jake fell into a rhythm with one another when the pair of you allowed each other to do so. “But yeah, he's gonna fly in, get the kids for us because I really don't want them there for too long without at least one of us there and bring them back to your mums for us.”
“Is she alright with that?” As always Jake knew you would think about everyone but yourself when the only person you should have been thinking about right now was you. “What if she–” Jake cut you off with a simple shake of his head.
“I already organised it.” Jake explained softly, his thumb never stopped stroking your hand as he held it. “Your mums gonna take the kids while we figure all this out, I don't want them with mine.” It wasn't that Jake didn't love his Ma, he did. But the idea of her having the kids for an extended amount of time gave him stomach issues he couldn't handle. “I saved his life, I trust him to escort our three terrors back here.”
“Have you met our kids? You asked with an all knowing look that Jake caught right away. Maybe Rooster wasn't the best person to call on, he had zero experience with kids, let alone Jake's twins and two year old.
Jake knew that you knew there was a darkness in the distance, but in the moment while everything felt normal, you both laughed together knowing exactly how the flight with your kids would go for Bradley Bradshaw.
“You’re totally right–” Jake cooed. “He might need to bring his flight helmet as a safety precaution.”
Marc guiu and hectors sister angst pls🫢
Hector being mad at first but forgiving later
BEHIND HIS BACK - MARC GUIU
Héctor finds out that you and Marc are in a relationship
Marc Guiu x Héctor Fort’s sister! reader
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿
The roar of the crowd was deafening as the final whistle blew, signaling the end of the match. They had won, and I could see the triumphant look on Marcs face as he celebrated with his teammates.
I cheered from the stands, feeling a rush of pride and love for him.
My brother Hector, ever the protective older brother, was also celebrating on the field, his face lit up with joy.
As the stands began to empty, I made my way down to the tunnel.
Hector was waiting for me by the entrance. "Great game, right?" he said, grinning widely.
"Amazing," I agreed. "But I need to use the bathroom before we leave. I’ll be right back."
He nodded, not suspecting anything. "Okay, don’t take too long."
I hurried off, but instead of heading to the bathroom, I made my way to the locker room where Marc would be.
The hallways were quiet, and I slipped inside, closing the door softly behind me.
Marc was sitting on a bench, still in his kit, a towel draped around his shoulders. His face lit up when he saw me.
"There’s my good luck charm," he said, pulling me into his arms.
I laughed, wrapping my arms around his neck. "You played amazing out there, Marc."
"All for you, mi amor," he murmured, leaning in to kiss me.
We were so caught up in each other that we didn’t hear the door open. It wasn’t until we broke apart that I saw Hector standing there, his expression one of shock and betrayal.
"Hector," I breathed, stepping back from Marc. "I can explain—"
But Hector’s face had already turned from shock to anger. "Explain? You two have been sneaking around behind my back? How long has this been going on?"
Marc stood up, trying to calm him down. "Hector, please, let us explain."
Hector’s fists clenched at his sides. "You don’t need to explain anything. I saw everything I needed to see."
With that, he turned and stormed out of the locker room. I felt tears sting my eyes as I turned to Marc, who looked just as devastated.
The days that followed were tense and filled with silence. Hector avoided both of us, throwing himself into training and avoiding any situation where he might have to talk to me or Marc.
It was painful, seeing the rift between us and not knowing how to fix it.
Finally, one evening, I found Hector sitting alone in the living room, staring blankly at the TV. I took a deep breath and sat down beside him.
"Hector," I began softly, "we need to talk."
He didn’t look at me, but he didn’t get up either. "What is there to talk about?"
"I’m sorry we didn’t tell you," I said, my voice trembling. "We didn’t want to hurt you. We just didn’t know how you’d react."
He let out a bitter laugh. "You didn’t trust me."
"It’s not about trust," I insisted. "It’s about fear. We were afraid of losing you."
He finally turned to look at me, his eyes filled with hurt. "You’re my sister. I want to protect you. And Marc... he’s my teammate. I never expected this."
"I love him, Hector," I said quietly. "And he loves me. We didn’t mean to keep it from you, but it just happened that way."
There was a long silence. Then Hector sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "I need time to process this. It’s not easy for me to just accept it."
"I understand," I said softly. "But please, don’t shut us out."
He nodded slowly. "I won’t. Just... give me some time."
I nodded, feeling a small glimmer of hope. "Thank you, Hector."
Days passed, and slowly, things began to thaw. Hector started talking to me again, although there was still a strain in our conversations.
Marc and I were careful not to flaunt our relationship in front of him, respecting his need for space.
One evening, Hector called both of us into the living room. He looked tired, but there was a resolve in his eyes.
"I’ve thought about it," he said slowly. "And I’ve realized that I can’t control who you love. If Marc makes you happy, then I won’t stand in the way. But," he added, a small smile tugging at his lips, "no kissing in front of me. I don’t need to see that."
I felt tears of relief fill my eyes as I hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Hector. I promise, no kissing in front of you."
Marc stepped forward, looking both grateful and relieved. "Thank you, Hector. I promise to take care of her."
Hector nodded, a hint of his usual protectiveness returning. "You better. Because if you hurt her, you’ll have to answer to me."
Marc smiled, nodding. "Understood."
All right, let’s talk about Feyre’s pregnancy reveal, Rhysand’s anger, and Cassian’s punishment. This is more of an angry rant, if it doesn’t make sense, you know why.
Before some weirdo comes for my throat for this, and though I’m not obligated to share anything about my life, I have two sisters. I’ve been both Feyre and Nesta. I know what it’s like to be poor, even if not to the extent of ‘I have to hunt to feed my family’ poor which is still a lot more than what SJM knows or understands.
The Archeron sisters have a less than cordial bond with each other, but it is a lot deeper than ‘she let me go hunting’ and ‘I failed her’. The adults responsible for them traumatised them, neglected them, used them as pawns, and exploited them. The three were forced to parent each other and care for their father. That’s a lot of trauma they have in common which leads to more in their individual lives, and an outsider can’t just have a peek and go ‘Oh, this is the one who suffered the most’. Comparing their trauma and picking a side is downplaying their experiences or insulting them as a character.
And it takes a lot to pit one of them against another with just a simple ‘she wronged you, so I’m going to punish her for you’ unless they hate each other and are already out for blood. Which is exactly what the IC do with the sisters—play with their emotions, manipulate them, and make a villain in each other’s story. It’s almost offensive to everyone with a sibling the way sisterhood is approached in this series by making Feyre compliant with Rhysand’s plans. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this narrative infuriates me that Feyre willingly allows Nesta’s imprisonment with a man who clearly is lusting after her.
The sisters haven’t healed from their shared trauma and the IC doesn’t want them to. The only chance they had to mend their relationship was when Feyre returned home after Tamlin sent her back. What we see in SF is a clear reversal of whatever bond they managed to salvage.
Feyre hasn’t forgiven Nesta and at this rate, she never will. She doesn’t care about her sisters but meddles with their lives because she’s still living by the promise she made to her mother. In her mind, she’s ‘taking care of her sisters’ even though she’s hurting them. Their dynamic shifts when she becomes a High Lady and her sisters end up at her mercy which is very similar to their times in poverty. Feyre provided for the family and she exerted control over them as a means to keep that promise which is what she’s repeating now. But that’s too much psychology for people who instantly go ‘but canonically!!’ So let’s move on.
Why does this matter to the pregnancy reveal? Oh, it does because Feyre allows everything in SF. Sure, she is manipulated but Rhysand and Cassian don’t have to put much effort into it. She always ‘sees’ their side and accepts it. (Or, SJM did so to justify the abuse.)
Nesta has every right to tell Feyre the truth about her child. She’s her sister, even if you don’t want to believe, she truly cares for her. Someone has to and no one close to Feyre is going to because Rhysand commands their silence. Her own healer doesn’t explain the dangers of childbirth to her. Nesta sucks at phrasing it well but her reasons are valid and clear. When Feyre asks her to calm down, she says something along the lines of ‘I can’t because they made a choice that directly concerns me, my magic which I’m terrified of. Would you calm down if they did the same to you? What if I tell you they already did? That they’re lying to you too about the child that’s potentially a death sentence? Can you be calm now?’ There’s anger here, sure, only because that’s the second time her sister betrayed her, the first being the imprisonment. She wasn’t waiting around coming up with a list to hurt Feyre and running to her the first chance she got (you know like specific someone does). Besides, she trusted Rhysand and Cassian to do right by Feyre, it’s why she kept their secret until then. But they proved her wrong and now what reason does she have to trust any of them? Even if it is an avenging of sorts, why wouldn’t she have the right to when it’s her and her sister’s life they are playing with?
Rhysand’s first instinct is to kill Nesta more than be concerned for his mate. He was not angry because Feyre was hurt or Nesta revealed the truth before he could. He was never going to tell Feyre himself, not until childbirth unless he ‘fixes’ it to play the hero again, or after if by some miracle they survived. He didn’t even tell his friends about the death bargain the two geniuses made either until the last minute and when he was cornered. That’s his pattern throughout the series.
Do you know what he might have done if it’d gone as far as the labour without Feyre knowing? ‘Let’s not put her in any more pain.’ And Feyre would have died never knowing all her friends were aware of her fate and they didn’t tell her.
He was angry because Nesta ruined his ploy. Would he have reacted differently had she declared it calmly over dinner? Let’s say Nesta wants to invite Feyre and wants to talk to her. She’s in HoW and she has to ask Cassian who will, let’s face it, inform Rhysand first. And they can decide to keep them apart. How is it impossible to see the control these men have over the sisters? Even if it is a completely separate incident on a random boring Tuesday, Nesta will have still become the villain. Rhysand will have still threatened to kill her.
Cassian whisks Nesta off the streets when she’s very well convinced that she’s either going to die or be dumped on the moral lands. I mean, he doesn’t tell her where he’s taking her and all she sees is Azriel passing him a packed bag. She’s already accepted her fate. Feyre reaches out to Cassian and asks him to convey the message that she’s forgiven Nesta which he keeps to himself. She insists her sister is brought back home which he refutes right away. She expresses clearly she’s angry with IC than her sister, again Nesta never knows. And Cassian decides Nesta deserves to be punished.
Just so we’re clear. Feyre is not angry with Nesta. She’s not hurt by Nesta’s actions. She wants her sister back home. And CASSIAN DECIDES NESTA DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED. Not Feyre. Not Rhysand.
Why? Because she stepped out of line, she exposed his precious sugar daddy. Because Cassian failed Rhysand by not getting to Nesta first and he’s taking it out on her.
You can say all you want Feyre is on Nesta’s side here and she’s being manipulated. But, she forgives Rhysand and Cassian in less than a day after learning her baby and her mate, whom she loves so dearly, are going to die with her. She’s so past it already that she’s joking with Cassian that Rhysand will enjoy Nesta’s punishment. (‘She’s never gone on a hike a day in her life’ but she went through the woods freezing to look for little sister alone with a mercenary, and she climbed down 10 000 steps out of sheer will. Still why not just insult her anyway lol?)
Does she know how dangerous the trip is or does she just not care? And I don’t remember if she goes on to have sex, I only remember Rhysand boasting about make-up sex in a mental convo with Cassian, and if it’s at this point, then that’s even more disturbing.
Why doesn’t she reach out to Nesta herself? Even if Nesta refuses, she can always try again. The two are gone for almost a week and she never wishes to check with her sister who ran off afraid for her life and guilt-ridden? How many times will the two men decide what’s best for her? The imprisonment is Rhysand’s elaborate plan which was very handy and the hike is Cassian’s idea. And she goes along either time because she is helpless with her own sister?
Besides, why do the IC even interfere? Feyre and Nesta are mean to each other. They hate each other. They make up one day. They want to rip each other’s throats out the next. Nesta wants to be far from her sisters, fine. She wants to drink and fuck and drown in her pain, fine. Feyre and Elain want her to heal soon, fine. Feyre wants to give her money, she wants to cut her off, fine. But it’s between them!
Rhysand can hate Nesta all his life. But he has no right to dole out punishment or make her life miserable out of spite. He can’t be angry on behalf of Feyre. As far as Nesta/Elain are concerned, he is just a dude their sister is sleeping with. They don’t believe in the whole mate thing. And Cassian is just a random guy.
And people’s audacity to say Feyre respects Cassian’s choice because she’s being a good friend and he has the right to choose for himself..!
Cassian doesn’t go ‘Let me go on a hike until this blows over’. He doesn’t choose for himself. He chooses for a woman, who is clearly hurting and wanting to die, so that she learns her lesson of never, ever crossing the IC (read Rhysand). His choice is directly impacting someone who’s suicidal and whose family wants them back. He doesn’t have a right to punish Nesta. He has no business getting involved at all!
I mean, if a guy shows up at your house and decides to punish you for a fight you have with your sister, you’ll either murder and bury him together or call the cops, not fucking marry him. It doesn’t matter he’s best buddies with your sister’s lover. He’s a creep.
And they say, Nesta deserves it all because she failed Feyre at the cabin. Their parents failed them. Nesta was the nurturer of the family, Elain was the emotional support, and Feyre was the provider—who could have taken literally any other job and, she chose hunting, but what Nesta and Elain did was irreplaceable. So for fuck’s sake, cut them some slack.
How can anyone read the book and believe all this was for Nesta, that any of them care about her, or that Cassian loves her? People would rather live in denial than accept what’s truly happening.
Omega can’t help fidgeting as she waits for Bucky to arrive at the café.
She’s already ordered her drink and has taken a seat near the large windows overlooking the busy sidewalks outside. Lunch rush has gotten the better of the street, but she knows that the café won’t really pick up again until closer to the end of the workday.
Lost in her thoughts, she doesn’t hear the bell announcing Bucky’s arrival.
No, it’s not until she smells the scent that she’s always attributed to him and feels the riotous emotions wafting from him in waves that shouldn’t be happening outside those who have claimed their pack members.
She reminds herself that she’s nothing more to him than the little sister of the omega he swore he loved yet ditched so many years ago.
Besides, he’s got his pack as she learned the day before.
She’s not even surprised Steve is his Beta. The two have been friends for as long as she’s known them and beyond that from what she recalls. The other omega with them had surprised her though. Not that the omega isn’t a pretty woman. She’s gorgeous really. It’s just something in the way the omega spoke to Bucky that has Omega wondering about their dynamic more than anything.
“I’m glad you came,” Bucky says as he gestures to the seat across from her. “I was worried you wouldn’t.”
“I’m a woman of her word,” she says, bristling at the implication she’s sure is in his voice, adding, “unlike others I could name.”
She tries her best not to glare at him, but the way his expression shifts to surprise and a bit of defensiveness, she realizes she hasn’t succeeded.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
She shakes her head.
“No, you started this. Tell me what you mean.”
There’s a growl behind his words that has her inner omega wanting to straighten up and do whatever he commands her to do. It’s really unfair he still has this power over her despite their many years of absence.
It seems her tiny crush hasn’t gone away after all.
She refuses to let it dictate her now though.
“I’d rather you tell me why you care about Gracie now. It’s been almost a decade since we last saw you. You made it clear back then that you wanted nothing to do with her or Dot for that matter.”
That has Bucky speechless across from her for a few moments.
Omega has to remind herself he’s known about Gracie all this time despite the almost broken expression that sweeps over his features. She swears she can feel that shock slam into her alongside what she can only describe as hurt at her assumptions.
She shoves those thoughts aside though as she meets Bucky’s gaze with an arched brow.
“I never knew her, did I?” he eventually says aloud.
Omega isn’t sure who he’s talking about until he finally straightens himself into the soldier she knows he once was.
“I don’t know what Dot told you, Precious, but I never knew about Gracie. If I had, I would’ve stepped up and been the father I’ve always wanted to be.”
“You a father? You were a playboy. Always chasing one skirt or another. It’s why Dot never wanted to tell you,” Omega spits at him. “I saw the letter you sent her the same morning she found out she was pregnant. To think I ever thought you were a gentleman. How many girls did you bed after they shipped you off for boot camp and your years of active duty? A dozen? Two? A hundred?”
It’s not until she spies the workers watching their table that she realizes she’s raised her voice at Bucky.
Heat suffuses her cheeks, but she refuses to back down.
“Sure, I flirted with girls. I was young,” Bucky pauses as his jaw ticks.
Despite the great control he’s exerting over his emotions, she can feel each of them as if they’re her own. It makes her briefly wonder if he can feel hers as he studies her.
“But I never looked at or flirted with another girl after meeting Dot. Precious, I thought she was the one. I would’ve done anything she wanted. I would’ve claimed her as my omega if she had let me. I wanted everything with her. I loved her.”
Omega shifts in her seat. Her brows pinch until she can feel the beginnings of a headache coming on.
Something isn’t adding up.
“I saw the letter, Bucky. I saw you break up with her and toss her away like a piece of trash.”
“Precious, I never got the chance to send Dot a letter. By the time I arrived at boot camp, I found a letter from her waiting for me. She dumped me. Said she wanted more than some lowly soldier with few prospects as her alpha.”
“No,” she says because she can’t think of anything else to say.
Bucky simply nods.
There’s no deception in the way he keeps his gaze steady on her or the words he speaks.
It’s enough to deflate the fight in Omega.
“You really didn’t know about Gracie?” she finally asks.
Bucky shakes his head. “I would’ve dropped everything if I had.”
“What about Steve and your omega? How do they feel about her?”
“You talking about Angel? She’s not my omega. Steve and his Alpha, Jake, claimed her almost two years ago. We’re just close friends.”
She doesn’t know what to say to that. Everything Dot’s ever told her about Bucky before Dot’s untimely death several months ago seems to be a lie.
Yet, she doesn’t want to believe her sister would actually lie to her of all people.
That doesn’t stop her from reliving the relatively fresh pain of betrayal she suffered at Dot’s hand and the alpha Omega had thought would be hers.
She shakes herself of those thoughts as a warm hand covers her cooler one.
Bucky is staring at her with a concerned softness that threatens to undo her composure completely.
“Talk to me, Precious,” he says quietly. “Where did your mind go just now?”
She shakes her head again. “It doesn’t matter. I’d rather know what you’re wanting where Gracie is concerned. Are you going to pursue custody of her? Take her away from the only family she has left?”
“Dot…”
“Died almost a year ago,” she confirms for him, not sure why she adds, “Her and my future alpha both perished in an accident.”
“I’m sorry, Precious.”
“I don’t need or want your pity. Just want the answers to my questions.”
Bucky seems like he wants to argue, but he finally lets go of her hand to pick up his drink and take a long drink of it.
She misses his warmth as soon as it disappears, but she refuses to ask for it back. If she can be strong these past several months, then she knows she can continue to be strong long after Bucky disappears from her life and Gracie’s.
“I do want custody of my daughter, but I also know that no court will afford me that without spending some time getting to know her. So, that’s what I would like to do to start off with. Get to know her and have her know me. I would never dream of taking her from you, Precious.”
She has no clue that he has no intention of not making her and Gracie a package deal in his life. He’s just got to play his cards right to make that happen.
They talk a little more as they finish their drinks.
His first visit with Gracie will happen over the upcoming weekend, giving him a few days to plan their activities and set everything up.
